8 Helpful Vacation Tips
Sweet Dreams

Labor Day has come and gone, and it's one of those holidays where people traveled everywhere. Traveling is already hard enough, but with others traveling, it's going to be even harder. It's pretty important to make sure you're prepared for your trip, and here's how.

1. Pack clothes days before.

Clothes are pretty important and high on the priority list. It's much better to pack your clothes before your trip (not the night before), so that you're sure that everything you need is in the bag. Be sure to check the night before so that you're absolutely sure that you have everything.

2. Check the weather.

Having recently gone through the worst of a tropical storm, please check the weather. There are areas that are still having flash floods, rain, and heavy damage. There also may be thunderstorm warnings as well as tornado warnings. No one wants to be caught in a storm without an umbrella, jacket, or rain boots.

3. Research where you're staying.

If you're going to a new place, chances are you've gone for a hotel that has good rooms for the best price. Make sure that you're not that far away from civilization and that there are grocery and convenience stores near just in case you need something.

4. Charge your electronics.

We live on our phones, our laptops and tablets. A good idea is to keep them charged, just because something may happen and you need to call someone for help. This is especially important for cell phones. Make sure to acquire a good car charger and adapter. It's also a good idea to have two cords.

5. Stick to your budget.

When we go on vacation, we want to either rest or go all out. Make sure you have enough money to do whatever you want, but also keep some aside for emergencies. Trips are fun but all plans can easily go astray.

6. Pack some snacks.

Snacks are essential, just like water. Snacks temporarily give you energy as well as quiet down kids (if you have any children on the trip). Be sure to keep some in front of the car as well, so that the driver is less distracted and can quickly get to the snack.

7. Use a map.

Please use a map if you don't know where you're going. Don't be that person that is stubborn and refuses to listen. Gas is expensive and no one wants to spend any unnecessary money on it. A paper map can be used, but so can your phone's navigation or Google Maps.

8. Have fun!

Though these tips are more common sense than anything, trips are meant for relaxation. Being as prepared as you can be ensures less stress on the trip (unless you're trying to decide on food). If you're planning a trip anytime soon, please stay safe and enjoy your vacation!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
