Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time for the Christmas decorations to go up and for kids to mail in their Christmas lists to Santa. But why should Christmas lists be limited to kids? College kids are in need of stuff around the holidays, too. Here are eight things that any college student near and dear to your heart will be extra grateful for this Christmas.
1. Restaurant gifts cards.
I don't know about other college students, but my friends and I occasionally like to go out to an actual restaurant and eat real food, A.K.A. not the inedible mush that the dining hall serves or the ramen that's at the bottom of our closet. Gift cards to Zaxby's, Applebees or even McDonald's might make us cry tears of joy and have our stomachs thanking you.
2. Socks.
Yeah -- I said it. I need socks! I didn't used to want socks in my stocking, but somehow my socks get eaten by the great monster washing machine in the dorm, never to return again. A pack of nice cotton ankle socks or even boot socks will make me one happy camper.
3. Toiletries.
Wow, did I take razors, toothpaste, deodorant, toothpaste and other toiletries for granted. That stuff is expensive!
4. Walmart gift cards.
If you can't think of a specific gift, we will forever love you is we unwrap a Walmart gift card. We can basically buy anything we want or need there from food to makeup to toiletries to clothes.
5. Money, of course.
Or we'll love you in general if we unwrap money. That can be used anywhere, obviously, and we seem to always be low on it.
6. Bedding.
I love love LOVE pillows and blankets, and I personally can never have enough. Sometimes the heat doesn't work in the dorms so we really have to bundle up, so a nice cozy blanket will really do the trick. We also like to sleep a lot, if you don't already know.
7. Phone charger.
Geez, those things seem to break so often anyways, and seem to break even faster along the hustle and bustle of college. From it being thrown into backpacks and purses to being snatched when we realize we're late for our 8am, it takes a beating.
8. Cooking supplies.
A waffle maker, a microwave, a Keurig or even pots and pans would be so so useful. We can buy real food and cook the real food ourselves (or try to).
But on another note, please don't get me a pet of any sort. I know I say I want one and I really would LOVE one, but I can barely take care of myself, let alone another being.
