8 Things You Miss About Geneseo While You're Home For The Summer

Of course, you couldn't wait to finish up finals and speed home to embark on a summer of shenanigans, but now you're at that point in the summer where you're pretty bored, you're tired of spending money, and not even binge watching a Netflix series can fill the void. Your heart is yearning to be back at Geneseo, your home away from home. There are just so many things that you miss that you are already counting the days until you go back.

1. Your friends.

You went from constantly being surrounded by your friends at all hours of the day to spending a majority of your time by yourself now. You can't wait to go back to reunite with your squad not only because you are lonely as heck at home, but also because you can't wait for the good times that are in store for next year.

2. The sunsets.

You know what they say, it's always SUN(N)Y in Geneseo. Technically if you've seen one sunset, you've seen them all. And yet, the Geneseo sunsets never gets old. The sky is just always doing good things, and although you might have taken the sunsets for granted during the year, you really miss the daily views.

3. Not having to drive anywhere.

No, really what even is an Uber? Never having to Uber anywhere at Geneseo is not only convenient but also a real money saver. I'm just a struggling college student trying to not have to pay every time I need a ride somewhere.

4. Uhots.

Unfortunately at home, there is no place that will deliver a pizza melt to you at 2 a.m. Can you believe that? And even describing the concept of a garbage plate to someone who has never heard of it is quite a task. They don't understand how someone could not only eat something like that but actually enjoy it.

5. Dancing in basements or sheds.

I don't think I have ever heard a truer statement than, "You can't go to Geneseo unless you like dancing in basements." Unfortunately at home, there is a lack of gross basements where you can jump around like the questionable human you are while also ruining whatever shoes you are wearing.

6. Torta Thursday.

Unsure if anyone would agree with me that the torta is clearly the best food offered at a food place on campus. Torta Thursday is a weekly holiday for this gal, and it is not even a question that I will be rolling through Fusion at some point every Thursday.

7. Checking Geneseo Crushes.

Most people would probably care more about getting a Geneseo crush than getting a 4.0. The anonymous posts are always entertaining to scroll through, and I think we can all admit that we not so secretly hope to get one. Also, semi-curious as to who actually runs Geneseo crush and how do you get the ins?

8. The campus.

And, of course, you miss seeing this beautiful campus every day. But fear not! You'll be back to rolling around Geneseo soon! So relax and enjoy the summer, and get ready to return for another year at the magical wonderland that is Geneseo.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
