With August comes cooler winds, school supplies, and reignited friendships at school. So to celebrate the month of new beginnings, here are 8 fun facts about the month of August.

1. National Smile Week is the week of August 5-11th.

2. Lemon Meringue Pie Day on August 15th.

3. On August 20, 1630, Lemonade was first served in Paris, France.

4. August in the Northern Hemisphere is similar to February in the Southern Hemisphere.

5. Augustus renamed the month of Sextilis because many of his greatest triumphs occurred during this month.

6. Many cultures call this month the harvest month or the time of harvest.

7. The Anglo-Saxon called August “Weodmonath” meaning “weed month.”

8. Statistics show that 22 per cent of men named August in Sweden were born in August.

I've been a bleach blonde for over a year now, and let me tell you, it is a lifestyle. More hair appointments, longer showers, and special shampoo. But it is totally worth it!

1. Mentally preparing yourself to convince your hair dresser that white is the way to go.

2. Or the anxiety of what could go wrong by bleaching your hair at home.

3. You could either become a ginger

4. Or a pixie

5. The face you make in the mirror when you take off your towel to unveil the perfect white strands.
