Styling 8 Outfits From 8 Pieces: Fall Edition

As a college student, I'm always thinking about new and creative outfits to wear that involve the same pieces I have in my closet. Every dollar in college is precious, and buying new clothes is not what you want to be spending your precious money on. I hope to provide some inspiration for that with these 8 outfits from 8 base pieces- a flannel, a crew neck sweatshirt, a vest, jeans, a black skirt, a pair of leggings, joggers, and a baseball hat. This fall themed collection (modeled by yours truly, my adorable BFF and older sister) includes outfits to fit a variety of different events and personalities, and is perfect for this upcoming holiday season.

Outfit One- Not Your Mother's...

This look is a classic fall outfit with a twist. Rock your traditional, cozy jeans, flannel, and your fave pair of fall footwear (in Sam's case it's her beloved riding boots), and spice it up with a fun crop top (or a tank top for the more conservative dresser). This look is great for a day of hanging with the fam or doing a little Christmas shopping, and is super easy and fun.

Outfit Two- Kanye???

Lovingly entitled the "Yeezy Look" (mostly because of my incredibly extra pose), this outfit is cozy, comfy, and still super cool and trendy. Throw on your fave pair of kicks with the base sweatshirt, joggers, and baseball hat, and you'll be ready to take on the day- or the studio. Because you look like a cool rapper person. Or something like that.

Outfit Three- BASE-ic Looks

This outfit incorporates four base pieces, the most of any outfit. Casual, cute, and comfy, this look can be accessorized to fit any type of style (like Mallory's awesome tie-dye socks and Jesus sandals), and is a go to college look.

Outfit Four- Dressy/Casual

This look is one of my faves, because of it's ease and comfort all while being very presentable and fun. The sleek base skirt dresses up the casual flannel, and the look can be made your own with your fave pair of boots, flats, or even sneakers. It's the perfect look for a holiday party (or Thanksgiving dinner- what I wore it too).

Outfit Five- The Eighties Kid

Channel your inner Stranger Things vibe with this look. I styled the base sweatshirt and jeans by cuffing the sleeves and pant legs, and wore the base vest on top. I completed the look with my white Converse again (see what I mean about the Stranger Things vibe??), and voila!- An easily accessorized, cozy outfit perfect for the season.

Outfit Six- I Woke Up Like This

Simple and sleek, this look incorporates the base flannel and joggers to create and super casual and chill vibe- however, it doesn't mean it's not stylish. Perfect for the days you don't feel like trying too hard but still want to look trendy, this outfit is great for any type of personality. Add a messy bun (or half bun) and you'll nail the "I look awesome without even trying" vibe perfectly.

Outfit Seven- BASE-ic Looks Pt. II

Let's face it- sometimes you just can't beat the go-to seasonal look. This look incorporates four base items as well, and is the perfect fall/winter look for the casual-cute vibe. The base pieces are easily brought together by any accessory or shoe choice, like Sam's riding boots (I told y'all she loves them). It's simply too classic and easy to pass up.

Outfit Eight- The Rachel Green

We have reached the final look, so of course it had to be named after one of the most iconic TV fashion icons of all time. The cuff-sleeved base sweatshirt tucked into the black base skirt definitely posses a cool 90's feel, especially when paired with scrunched socks and ankle boots. This look is creative, vintage, and totally different all at the same time, and by far my favorite look.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
