8 Easy Ways To Enjoy Spring At UNC

With the weather warming up and midterms winding down, it’s hard to stay indoors and study. Lucky for us Tar Heels, there’s a variety of ways to enjoy the great outdoors and avoid the books around campus.

1. Attend a baseball game.

The Heels have won their last three series, and the season’s just begun. Nothing says relaxing like an afternoon in the Bosh, complete with friends, a round of fresh lemonade, and Cracker Jacks.

2. Relax in the quad.

Want a chance to feel you’re picnicking in the park without going too far? Look no further than the Quad. Grab a blanket and your shades, lean back, and take in the beauty that UNC has to offer.

3. Enjoy Maple View on the porch.

If you’re willing to make a little drive for a sweet treat, this is where you’ve got to be. There’s nothing better than some homemade ice cream and a beautiful sunset, especially when it’s enjoyed from the comfort a rocking chair on the Maple View porch.

4. Check out the Eno River hiking trails.

This is another one for those willing to adventure and break in those hiking boots. Fill your water bottle and lace up your best pair of walking shoes. A great way to get some exercise and detach from campus is wandering the trails alongside the sound of the Eno River.

5. Enjoy a blue cup on a He’s Not bench.

With He’s Not re-opening this past week, you know it’s the new place to be. And a great way to spend a spring evening is in the cool air with a nice brew. It’s a definite must on this to-do list.

6. Enjoy your lunch in the Pit.

Pick up your Chick-fil-A sandwich and move your lunch bunch outside to enjoy. You’ll have a chance to see every friend who passes through campus, enjoy your meal, and maybe even catch a few rays.

7. Jog through campus.

For those of us who enjoy a good workout, the spring is the perfect time to run through campus. Your workout becomes a thousand times better when you’re passing beautiful flowers and green grass. Or at least mine does.

8. Get geared up for LDOC.

If this is your first year, you’ve heard the stories from all your friends. If you’ve been around, you might near some reminding. But there’s not a better day to party than Spring LDOC at UNC -- start prepping now for moats, bounce houses, and so much more. It’s the perfect way to end a semester full of work.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
