The return to college for students across America means that many of them will also be returning to dining hall food. At some schools, the thought of returning to the dining hall is less exciting than others. For some upperclassmen students, they have kitchens and can cook for themselves, which is a new and exciting part of the college experience. No matter your academic standing, an essential of being a college student is having a few healthy snack staples to go to when you need your snack fix. For the new freshmen who are trying to get into a routine, here are a few healthy college snacks that you can have in your dorm room.

1. Banana with peanut butter

These are a good item to have for breakfast or a snack—it is great to keep you going in between a busy schedule of classes and activities.

2. Multigrain chips with guacamole

Who doesn't love guac? Multigrain chips are also a great way to have a healthier version of a great snack.

3. Nutella

Nutella is great to have with a snack or even on a sandwich.

4. Granola bars


Granola bars are great to keep in your dorm and to have before early morning classes. They are also great to have on the go.

5. Fruit from the dining hall

One thing that you have to do as a college student, especially if you do not have a complete meal plan or live off campus, is make the most of your time spent at the dining hall. A lot of students will package up some things that they may not want to buy and use it in the future at their houses.

6. Cereal


Cereal is great to keep you full for a good part of your day, which can be essential if you have a busy schedule that doesn't allow much time for eating.

7. Yogurt

Yogurt is a staple for college students; it is great at any time of the day and some people even substitute it for dessert.

8. Chocolate

Because you always have to treat yourself, right? I always keep this treat handy for the tough days, the good days and everything in between.

These snacks will vary for every college student since everyone has different likes and dislikes. However, these are a few of the most popular finds for college students everywhere.
