We go through different stages in life. We change, we develop, we grow. We're cute kids, awkward preteens, angsty teens, and utterly confused adults. With these phases comes new and different best friends. Maybe they're there for a phase or two, or maybe they're there for your whole life.

1. The Phoebe

Best friends like Phoebe are hilarious and lighthearted. They're there for you. They always mean what's best, even if it doesn't come out that way. They're silly and fill your life with love and laughter.

2. The Blair

Best friends like Blair are fabulous. They're protective. At times, they might come off as controlling, but it's because they know what they're talking about and want you to succeed. Blair-type friends just want what's best for you.

3. The Lily

Best friends like Lily are trustworthy and understanding. If you mess up, they will be there. You have a secret to keep (for instance, that you are a teen pop sensation)? Their lips are sealed. Best friends like Lily are lifelong.

4. The Monica

Best friends like Monica are control freaks and they know it. You want to be in denial about how much your life isn't together? Not with a best friend like Monica around. They're going to give it to you straight because they can't handle watching you crash and burn like that.

5. The Hanna

Best friends like Hanna are kind of clueless. They mean well, but putting things into words is not their strong suit. They're more of your silly best friend with whom you can just goof off and have a good time.

6. The Charlotte

Best friends like Charlotte are can be overbearing but in the best way. Their eye is on the prize: the future. Good luck having a conversation with this best friend without the topics of husbands and babies coming up. They're adorable, though, and you can't wait for their fairytale happily ever after to happen for them (S/o to all of my fellow Charlottes out there, we're all in this together).

7. The Christina

Best friends like Christina are your person. They'll give you a reality check anytime you need it, or if they just think you need it. They understand you and you understand them. Nobody else may understand the two of you, but that's okay. It freaks others out how close the two of you are.

8. The Brooke

Best friends like Brooke are passionate. They love with their whole heart. You can always come to them for help because they've probably been there. You may fight and swear each other off for the rest of eternity, but best friends like Brooke will always be there when you really need them.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
