8 Demeaning Comments "Skinny" People Are Tired Of Hearing

1. "You look like you need a Twinkie."

Actually, there is a ton of other junk food besides twinkies that I would prefer, which means I do eat fattening junk foods. Shoving fattening food at me because you think I should gain weight is rude, and if I wanted to gain weight I would with protein and muscle not fattening foods.

2. "I can fit my thumb to pinky around your wrist!"

I'm very glad? Good for you? Honestly, I don't even know how to respond when you say this but I'm pretty sure most people can do this.

3. "I could break you, you are so tiny!"

This sounds very threatening to me, more than anything else. I have had numerous people tell me this especially stronger, older men. I find it very uncomfortable and that it is your way of telling me you can overpower me. Please do not say this to people because it is basically asserting your dominance over them. Also, if it is not a dominance comment, you are still refrencing the fact that someone is frail.

4. "Do you ever eat?"

Yes, I do eat. As a matter a fact, I ate more than a 300 lb man at a buffet and he bought my dinner because of it. I just have a high metabolism. Just because someone is skinny does not mean that they do not eat.

5. "How does someone find skin and bones attractive?"

Everyone has a different taste in attraction. Some people like what other people could never find attractive. However, calling someone skin and bones is just like saying that that is all they are and physical apperance is the only thing that matters. Even if someone is skin and bones you have no right telling them they aren't attractive.

6. "Can you even lift that? It probably weighs more than you."

First off, even if it did weigh more than me, people can lift more than their weight. Secondly, anything over 50 lbs does not automatically weight more than me. Yes I can lift my own cat litter, no I do not need you to do it.

7. "You don't need to lose weight, you're tiny enough!"

Just because I am smaller than you does not mean I am in shape, every body is different and everyone has their own personal preference. If mine is being more in shape then so be it. Just because you would be satisfied with my body does not mean I am. Also being skinny and being in shape are two different things, you can be skinny and not be able to run a mile without dying.

8. "You look sick!"

This one is my personal most hated insult. Their are people who are skinny because they are sick whether it's mentally or physically. You have no idea if I am one of them and that is extremely demeaning and hurtful. Telling someone they look sick is hurtful and then makes that person concerned whether they should seek help or gain weight just so people do not view them that way.

Please be mindful that no matter what type of body type you are, you should never be making demeaning comments about someone else. Some people can't help what their body type is and some people have reasons behind why they are the weight they are. Just by making a specific comment about someone's weight can change the way they view themselves. To someone else you might be considered good looking but to yourself you sometimes want to change. Don't look down on someone because they want something different for themselves. Every body type is beautiful, and every body type has those specific phrases that are just too much to deal with.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
