From the moment I turned 16, I decided to get a job. We all want extra things in life and relying on mom and dad all the time is no fun. I started working 15 hours a week to pay for gas and small incidentals. Soon after that, I turned 17 and got a new job. I immediatly became a workaholic from that point. I constantly wanted to go to work. I gave up my weekends because I was obsessed with being at work and making money. With that new job came a better sense of work ethic. I wanted to prove to myself and everyone else that I had a strong work ethic. I spent a short time working as a crew member for Dairy Queen before I was promoted to a trainer. Shortly after that, I became a shift lead. With these new promotions, I wanted to spend even more time at work making it the best place possible. Now being an Assistant Manager, I spend twice as much time there and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have gained strong leadership skills and a strong work ethic that will follow me everywhere I go.

A strong work ethic, among teenagers, is hard to come by today. The few of us that have it are considered "teenage workaholics" Here are 8 reasons why you're addicted to working.

1. You work an insane amount of hours.

Some weeks that could mean 40 hours. Other weeks could be 55 hours. Nothing less and you like it that way.

2. Between working full time and going to school full time, your social life sometimes happens at 2 in the morning.

If you're like me, most days you go to school from 8-1pm, go straight to work and don't get home until 1:30am. In order to see your friends, you make time between 2am and 8am to see them. No joke.

3. Someone asks you to cover their shift

The more hours you have, the more money you will get. You might also have a problem telling people no but, that's a completely different story.

4. You finally get a day off and you're like

Everyone like having a day off. I usually spend mine doing absolutely nothing, wishing I was at work.

5. You get more than 2 days off in a week

You spend more time stressing out about whether or not you can afford that many days off.

6. Everyone judges you and tell you to take a break

Don't tell me how to live my life, Tina.

7. You decide taking on way more than you can handle is a good idea.

I actually prefer it that way.

8. Energy drinks become your new BFF.

Seriously Red Bull should sponsor me.

9. "You look like crap"

I've slept maybe 3 hours. What's your excuse?
