1. Are you a Diabetic?

Yes. I don’t inject myself with an expensive fluid just for fun.

2. Oh my god. Is that a needle?

Yes. I need it to get the insulin in my body somehow. Though I wish I could eat it with my food, I’ll get over it.

3. Does it hurt to stick needles in yourself every day?

Most might think the obvious answer is yes. That’s not the case. There are times where it really hurts if we hit a nerve. After a while, it doesn’t hurt that much. The insulin stings depending on the brand.

4. Do you bleed a lot?

No. We bleed very little. Only need blood to check our blood sugars and might see some blood after injecting insulin.

5. If I eat too much sugar, will I get diabetes?

No. Sugar itself won’t cause diabetes. Please stop.

6. Is diabetes contagious?

No, it’s not. No one so far knows how diabetes is around. People have a higher chance of getting it if a relative has it. Some people just get diabetes without a clue as to why. Now you can go back hugging your loved one without worries.

7. Can you eat this?

Diabetics can eat whatever we please. Just probably shouldn’t eat that big bowl of spaghetti.

8. What is the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

Valid question. Type 2 is where there isn’t enough insulin to move sugar through the body and mostly occurs in older people and obese people. Type 2 can usually be cured for lack of a better word. Losing weight and taking pills helps with type 2. Type 1 is where the body starts attacking the pancreas. Again, don’t know why. Type 1 is not curable, unfortunately.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
