Well since it is December, that means it is acceptable to write Christmas articles! Be warned, most of my articles this month will be related to the season. To start off, I wanted to recommend some movies that are a must watch throughout December if you want to get in the mood (in no particular order.)
1. Elf (2003)
I couldn't make this list and not include this movie. Although I don't watch it every Christmas, it is a good movie to put on when you're decorating the house so you and your family can all recite the lines of it (and don't act like you don't know the lines.)
2. The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974)
In my house this is a classic. Every year, everyone gathers in the living room and we sit and watch this movie. And it has some amazing songs to sing along to. It makes me feel so much more excited for the holidays just thinking about the past times I've had with his movie.
3. Home Alone (1990)
Another classic to have playing sometime throughout the season. It shows the importance of being with family, which is something that is often lost in this day and age.
4. The Polar Express (2004)
First of all, the cinematography and animation is amazing. The message behind it is something that we can all learn from. We all need to keep being creative and believe in ourselves and others.
5. Frosty the Snowman (1969)
This movie has so many amazing and catchy songs that you can't help to sing along to...not that you mind. It brings cheer and a smile to everyone's face. It's a short film that can be watched while your cookies are in the oven.
6. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
Again, who doesn't love having a sing along session in your room to some Christmas song classics. This movie helps us college students believe in ourselves and that our major is for us (when in doubt, trust Hermey's advice.) You're not a misfit toy!
7. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
Another short film that can be used as a quick break from wrapping your Christmas presents. In this time of materialism, this movie shows that love is more important than a physical gift.
8. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
Honestly, it could be any form of The Christmas Carol but the Muppet verison is just my personal favorite. You can't finish the season without seeing Tiny Tim or those ghosts (past, present, and future) that help to remind us all of the true meaning of Christmas.
I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what movies you recommend in the comments below.
