Since I'm very new to Christianity, I decided to give up regular music for Lent. I'm only listening to Christian music, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Here are some of my favorite worship songs that I've discovered so far.

1. Afraid – Tenth Avenue North

This song is about not letting the world and circumstances overwhelm you and make you fearful. God can solve any problem. With him in your life, you’ll always be okay. As someone with an anxiety disorder, this song helps keep me grounded in the present instead of thinking about the future or the past.

Best lyric: Who will I listen to? Fear never told the truth

2. Good Good Father – Chris Tomlin

I heard this song for the first time at something called Greek Conference where I got to explore my faith with other Greek Christians, and I felt a connection to it instantly. I struggle with feeling worthy of love, but this song reminds me that I am good enough to be loved by God, the ultimate father.

Best lyric: It’s love so undeniable, I can hardly think. Peace so unexplainable, I can hardly think

3. So Will I (100 Billion X) – Hillsong UNITED

This is another song I heard for the first time at Greek Conference, and I loved it instantly. It’s hard for me to find words to explain exactly what this song means in my heart, but I know that it’s the perfect worship song. The entire song is singing praise to God.

Best lyric: As you speak, a hundred billion failures disappear

4. Unstoppable God – Elevation Worship

Once again, this is a song I first got to listen to at Greek Conference. It’s about how amazing God truly is. He has done all of these amazing things, beginning with the creation of our world. Even better, everything he does is out of love for us, his children.

Best lyric: Fear is losing ground to our hope in you

5. Control – Tenth Avenue North

Before I had technically considered myself a Christian, I heard this song at church with my friends, and I connected with it instantly. It’s all about letting God control your life instead of worrying about Earthly things. This song can be really helpful in helping me relax when I’m feeling really anxious.

Best lyric: The King of Heaven wants me, so this world has lost its grip on me

6. Great Are You Lord – All Sons & Daughters

Constant praise to God is the primary message of this song. It sings about how amazing God is, but singing this song is a thank you to God for everything he has done.

Best lyric: You give hope, you restore every heart that is broken

7. Open the Heavens – GATEWAY

This is such a fun and powerful way to worship with a group of people. It’s asking the Holy Spirit to join you and allow you to feel God’s love. This first time I truly felt a connection to God through worship was during this song at Greek Conference.

Best lyric: We can hardly wait, come flood this place, we’re ready now, it’s all about to change

8. Oceans (Where Feet May Fall) - Hillsong UNITED

God is with you, even when you’re going through difficulties. This song serves as a reminder that leaning on God during hard times is never a bad thing. He is always there for you.

Best lyric: Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander and my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my savior

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
