If you are anything like me, you've probably been single for every Valentine's Day you can remember and you don't see that changing anytime soon. Well that's some good news! Most people hate being alone on Valentine's Day but for the chronically single it’s just another excuse to spend money, time, and effort on the one person who matters the most: yourself... and maybe a few other chronically single friends.

1. Cupid's Undie Run

Although this technically isn't on Valentine's Day it does happen on Saturday, February 11th. It’s a one mile(ish) run and Valentine's Day party that happens all while you are only in your unmentionables. All the proceeds go the Children's Tumor Foundation, so what could be better? Bring your whole squad to participate, meet your fellow chronically single citizens of Chicago, and have a blast.

2. Naked at the Art Institute Scavenger Hunt

This event requires you to bring at least one friend but that's no problem, you are bound to know at least one other single friend. This scavenger hunt takes place the weekend before Valentine's Day. You are given a list of items and are let loose in the Art Institute to try to find all the nudity you can.

3. Comedy Show!

UP Comedy Club at Second City in Uptown is putting on a show called #DateMe: An OKCupid Experiment. 38 ridiculous fake profiles were created on the dating site OKCupid by the writer of this show and we get to laugh at the crazy responses they elicited. This show is for those in or out of love who are looking for a good laugh.

4. Get a Bag of the Sweetheart Mix from Garrett Popcorn

Grab yourself a bag of Garrett Popcorn's newest flavor the Sweetheart Mix (a mixture of Simply Strawberry and Chocolate Carmel Crisp), hop on the couch for a marathon of your favorite Netflix series. Law and Order: SVU anyone?

5. Go Shopping!

The Handmade Market Chicago will be at the Empty Bottle in Ukrainian Village. Go to find some homemade arts and crafts done by local artists!

6. Throw a Party

There are bound to be other singles like you looking for something to do on Valentine's Day so host a party! Maybe invite that cutie you've been crushing on all semester ;)

7. Do Something You Love

Valentine's Day is all about love right? Well do something you love then! Maybe that is going to a morning yoga class or indulging in coffee at your favorite café, whatever you love spend today doing it! You'll thank yourself later.

8. Treat Yourself

Take yourself out on a date! Yes, I am saying take yourself out for dinner...ALONE. No it won't be embarrassing or awkward, it will be liberating and stress-free. I promise. Treat yourself to a deep dish pizza, ice skating in Millennium Park, and maybe the newest movie release. Enjoy being alone and the peace and quiet it brings!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
