In the past few years, bow ties have made their way back into the fashion scene. I remember at one point in my life where everyone always thought of Pee Wee Herman whenever they saw a bow tie and you’d get a strange look unless you were wearing one for a formal occasion. But no longer are they associated with Pee Wee Herman, and no longer are they just for formal wear. It’s now to the point where they can even be considered as a staple to men’s everyday fashion. In fact, they’ve become so popular that you can even find them on pets.
Since the bow tie fashion has expanded to pets dressing up on the daily, I’m going to introduce you to some pretty fancy cats you can find on Instagram that you should definitely follow. Because one, they’re cute, and two, they’re wearing bow ties — and they’re rocking them, too.
1. Barnaby and Balthazar, @barnabyandbalthazar
These two British shorthair cats hail from the United Kingdom, and boy are they cute. You want a cat that looks good in a bow tie? Well, here they are! The British shorthair breed’s round face makes any bow tie worn perfectly accentuated. Not to mention that Barnaby and Balthazar just so happen to have a handful of colorful, patterned ties that make these two especially fashionable.
2. Striker and Whiskey, @davidefox04
One of my personal favorites because these two cats are so much fun. They don’t just wear bow ties, although when they do, they look especially handsome (it’s those loving green eyes they both have). Striker and Whiskey are often found being dressed up in bandanna, scarves, knitted hats, sweaters and much more. Everything I’ve seen them wear is both fun and funky, as well as worth of a laugh because they look adorable.
3. Leonardo DiPhilliber, @furryboy.leo
Or Leo for short, if you’d prefer. This tabby cat always looks handsome, and has an array of bow ties and neckties to choose from in his wardrobe. He also has a few sweaters in his closet to choose from, as well — and no matter what he’s wearing, whether it be a tie or a sweater, he looks good.
4. Thrasher, @thrasher_cat
Another of my personal favorites, this gorgeous domestic shorthair doesn’t just look like an angel with his white fur and green eyes, he acts like one, too. For a cat, he’s the perfect mix of well-mannered and playful. And what could be better than a well-dressed cat? Well, it just so happens he’s also clicker trained and can ride a longboard! Thrasher is one cool cat, and the bow ties only amplify that.
5. Xavier, Sebastian, and Octavius, @xo.osx
A family of two Devon Rexes and a Himalayan, these cats don’t just wear bow ties — but clothing, too! The two Devon Rex cats, Xavier and Sebastian, are especially fashionable. Sometimes, they wear bow ties. Other times, they wear some pretty studious-looking outfits paired with glasses that make them absolutely adorable. As for Octavius, the Himalayan? Well, he doesn’t even need to dress up (though he does) to be a piece of eye candy with his gorgeous coat and blue eyes.
6. Walter White Cat, @mrwalterwhitecat
Bandannas and bow ties, oh my! Walter is a cute cat with the style to match. He can be found wearing patterned collars, bow ties or bandannas. From what I’ve seen, he has a bow tie and bandanna for almost every occasion. There are argyle, heart-covered, mice-covered, flower patterned, seersucker ties and plenty more!
7. 7 Gatos, @cats7cats
I definitely didn’t mean to put the seven best dressed cats in Brazil as number seven on the list, but that’s how it goes. Nino, Piri, Nininho, João, José, Princesa and Príncipe are a group of cats that not only come in an array of coat coloring's, but they also come dressed in an array of colorful and patterned bow ties. A bow was also on their head once. But no matter if the bow is on their head or as a tie, this group of cats is both gorgeous and stylish.
8. Tigger, Maru and Kimi, @tigger.maru.kimi
A family made up of two British shorthairs and a domestic shorthair, these cats are not only adorable, but just as dapper as the others. They wear a range of neckties, bandannas and bow ties — and my favorite part is some of the bow ties are so fancy, they’re made of sequins! Talk about fashionable. And, of course, British shorthair cats plus bow ties equal a thing made of dreams. I don’t know what it is about their round faces that make bow ties so cute on them…but either way, Maru and Kimi sure look stunning!
