Brunching is not only a hobby, but also a lifestyle. New York City happens to be a haven for the brunch-seeker and I have compiled a list of a few of my favorite brunch spots.
1. Jack's Wife Freda
Located in SoHo, Jack's Wife Freda is a quaint modern space with French vibes and very photogenic food. I recommend the Madame Freda or the Green Shakshuka (pictured below).
2. The Butcher's Daughter
On the corner of Kenmare St. in Nolita, The Butcher's Daughter has bright yellow accents and seating outdoors (perfect as the weather is getting warmer). The Avocado Eggs Benedict is my favorite and the Monterey Eggs is also delectable. Both come with a side of delicious home-fries.
3. Friend of a Farmer
Friend of a Farmer (on Irving St.), reminds me of the inside of a small farm house where they pride themselves on Farm-to-Table service. Their menu is lofty, but I recommend the Eggs Benedict, which comes on a fluffy biscuit and the Working Farmer Omelet. To start, order the fresh fruit platter that comes with maple butter dipping sauce. Fruit just isn't the same after you have it.
4. Three of Cups
The inside of Three of Cups is complete with rustic decor. The menu is Italian and with the addition of $8, your meal is paired with bottomless mimosas or bloody marys. Their eggs benedict, "Benedict alla Tre di Cuppa," differentiates itself with focaccia bread, prosciutto and red bell pepper hollandaise sauce.
5. Egg Shop
Also located in SoHo, the Egg Shop is perfect for fellow egg-lovers. Their menu provides a varied list of egg-sandwiches, but I recommend the Custom Egg and Cheese (I ordered mine with poached eggs, white cheddar, a panini roll, the customized onion aioli and avocado).
6. Cafe Henrie
The aesthetic of Cafe Henrie is pink tabletops, modern art and a retro diner look. The avocado toast is a no brainer and I added a poached egg on mine. You won't be disappointed.
7. Two Hands Cafe
There are small clouds hanging from the ceiling. Must I say anything more? The food, however, only adds to the experience. The Açai Bowl is topped with layers of granola, shredded coconut, chia seeds, berries and cacao nibs. It tastes just as good as it looks.
8. Root & Bone
Think a modern twist on southern comfort food. Fried chicken and waffles are among the options for brunch, but I opted for the Waffle Benedict. These waffles are the best things I've ever eaten and they give you a bourbon maple syrup to top things off.
