Discouragement.

It is a feeling that most humans experience at some point in their lives. It can happen to anyone--men, women, and even children. During these times, it is so easy to lose faith in yourself and everyone around you.

As a young college student; I have definitely experienced my share of heartbreaks and discouraging feelings--and it sucked. Nothing could really get me out of my funk, except encouraging words from the Bible. The following verses helped me through some rough times and I hope they will help you all in your time of need. They are great reminders for us to stay focused and trust in the word of the Lord. God is for us and he wants to see us succeed!

1. John 14:1

"Do not let your hearts be troubled, Trust in God, trust also in me."

2. Joshua 1:9

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

3. Psalm 46:5

"God is with her, she will not fall."

4. Deuteronomy 31:8

"Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you. He will neither fail you or abandon you."

5. 1 Peter 5:7

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

6. Psalms 112:7

"She does not fear the bad news. She confidently trusts the Lord to take care of her."

7. 2 Chronicles 20:15

"Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the battle is not yours, but God's."

8. John 16:33

"In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcame the world."

The world can get hectic at times and we are going to want to give up. But, we are stronger than that, and God wants us to trust and believe this. He gives us encouraging words like this to remind us that we are greater with him by our side. Stay blessed y'all.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
