There is nothing more beautiful than a mixed breed dog and these special breeds are the proof!

If you read my articles, then you will know that I love dogs. Growing up I would go through phases where I had specific favorite dogs, from dalmatians (I was obsessed with "101 Dalmatians" as a child) to pugs. Over the years though I have learned about the beauty that is mixed breeds. Besides the fact that mixed breeds are overall healthier and more natural than purebred dogs (an article for another day), mixed breed dogs are just so gorgeous. The more mixed a dog is the more unique and beautiful the dog is. The following are some of my favorite mixed dog breeds, all of which I hope to own at some point during my life, preferably all at once.

1. Aussiepom (Australian Shepard + Pomeranian).

Aussiepoms are the beautiful result of breeding an Australian Shepard and a Pomeranian together. These gorgeous dogs are very smart and have very good temperaments. They do not shed as much as Australian Shepards and are not as yappy as Pomeranians. Most importantly though these dogs require a lot of love and attention, so if you are a person that is not home often, this is definitely not the dog for you.

2. Cheagle (Chihuahua + Beagle).

I am overwhelmed by how precious the Cheagle is, a mix between a Chihuahua and a Beagle. These dogs are very friendly and are perfect for families. Just like Chihuahuas though, these dogs can get very overexcited and are full of energy. Just like the Aussiepom these dogs do not like to be left alone, so they are perfect for big families that have people home all the time or at least often.

3. Chusky (Chow Chow + Siberian Husky).

These giant fluff balls of love and joy are only for the more experienced of dog owners. Chuskys bond deeply with their owners and can be very protective of them. As the others, these dogs do not like to be left alone and due to their high energy require a great deal of activity and exercise. They are very loyal and beautiful dogs but definitely require a dedicated and loving owner.

4. Pomsky (Pomeranian + Siberian Husky).

This is one mixed breed that most people will know about because of how popular it has gotten over the past year. The Pomsky is the amazing result of a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. These dogs are very intelligent and love to play. Sometimes though they can inherit the stubbornness of Pomeranians and can be difficult to train. Despite their small size, these dogs are also very protective of their owners.

5. Bullmation (Bulldog + Dalmatian).

I was obsessed with Dalmatians when I was younger and I think I have found a new breed to be obsessed with. These beautiful dogs are very friendly and loving and are very good with kids (unlike Dalmatians on their own who can be very temperamental and bad with kids). Although this dog can be very protective of their owners, they are generally very friendly.

6. Goberian (Golden Retriever + Siberian Husky).

The Goberian is the result of a Golden Retriever and Siberian Husky and is a very large and friendly dog. These social and loyal dogs are very energetic and require a good amount of exercise and activity. They are very good with kids and love to play. These dogs are also very intelligent and are multi-talented, participating in activities such as guarding, hunting, and search and rescue.

7. Pitsky (Pit Bull and Siberian Husky).

It seems that Siberian Husky's are very popularly used in creating mixed breeds but I guess that is because the results are so positive and beautiful. The Pitsky is a very active and high energy dog that requires active families. They are loving and loyal and also do very well with children. They do not like to be left alone for long periods of time and may destroy items in the house if separation anxiety sets in.

8. Gerberian Shepsky (German Shepard + Siberian Husky).

These loyal and social dogs are the attractive result of a cross between a German Shepard and a Siberian Husky. Gerberian Shepskys are extremely intelligent and thereby can be trained quite easily. These dogs are also very strong and are good at working on farms and for police officers. Although they are very kind and friendly these dogs can be very protective of their owners.

So what do you think of these beautiful, mixed breeds? Are you already heading down to the nearest animal shelter to get your hands on one of them? Are there any other breeds that I didn't mention that you love?

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.
