8 Best Memes So Far In 2017

Whether it be Mocking Spongebob or Salt Bae, memes are always a source of hilarious entertainment, and here are the 8 best memes of 2017 so far.

1. "Cash me outside, how bow dat?"

Danielle Bregoli gained internet notoriety through her appearance on The Dr. Phil Show. Usually used in reference to confronting someone about something dumb, "Cash me outside, how bow dat?" was an appropriate response as a joke.. for a few weeks at least.

2. "Cracking a cold one with the boys"

Most likely referencing to fraternity boys, "Cracking a cold one with the boys" is the equivalent of "hanging out with friends". However, people have taken various spins on it to mock it.

3. "What Redbone would sound like if..."

Redbone is the most well-known song off of Childish Gambino's new "Awaken, My Love!" album. This meme originated with "What Redbone would sound like while you're making out in the bathroom of a house party" and eventually progressed to "What Redbone would sound like while hiding in the bathroom during a bank robbery", "What Redbone would sound like if you were at a house party filled with a bunch of sorority girls", and various others.

4. "What in Tarnation?"

Featuring the classic Doge, "What in Tarnation?" referenced to Doge wearing a cowboy hat and was used in practicality when someone did something to reference something southern people would do.

But then it eventually transformed into something that would fit with "What in (x)nation?"

5. "Oh no baby! What is you doin?"

Joseph and Dan Rue (@danrue on twitter) go around their local city and "trespass" locations, rendering them to run into hilarious situations. A classic catch phrase used by Joseph is "Oh no baby! What is you doin?" and is used to reference when somebody is doing something dumb/stupid.

6. Salt Bae

Salt Bae is a Turkish Chef (Nusret Gökçe) who became an internet sensation when a video of him cooking steak (impressively) started circulating around the internet.

7. "The floor is..."

This recent meme was introduced when "The Floor is Lava" game was reintroduced after a Facebook video went viral. After the internet got hold of it, it transformed into this meme.

8. mOcKInG sPOnGEboB

Mocking Spongebob is a picture of Spongebob transformed as a bird and has the appearance of mocking somebody. This meme is a timeless classic because not only is it funny, but it can also defend itself.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
