Christmas is a magical time of year. The world looks so beautiful with all the snow and twinkly Christmas lights. However, the cold tends to make people spend a lot more time indoors with little to do. Thankfully, Netflix has come to save the holidays by giving us plenty of Christmas movies to watch this season.
1. White Christmas (1954)
This Christmas classic stars Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye as they team up with a sister song-and-dance act to put on a musical to encourage guests to visit a rural Vermont inn. With no snow in sight, they must bring the holiday spirit to the inn. Even if you aren't really into old movies, you might actually like this one!
2. Scrooged (1988)
A modern retelling of Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, Bill Murray stars as a television executive who is severely lacking in holiday spirit. He is haunted by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future in order to learn the true meaning of Christmas. Full of heart and laughs, Scrooged is a must-see this holiday season.
3. Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas (1999)
This family classic is divided into three parts: "Donald Duck Stuck on Christmas", "A Very Goofy Christmas", and "Mickey and Minnie's The Gift of the Magi". Huey, Dewey, and Louie experience Christmas on repeat until they figure out what Christmas is really about. Goofy goes to great lengths to prove to Max that Santa Claus exists. Mickey and Minnie sacrifice what is important to them to get the perfect Christmas gifts for each other. Each part is full of heart-warming holiday spirit that can't help but get you excited for Christmas.
4. Just Friends (2005)
Chris (Ryan Reynolds), a formerly overweight man, who returns home Christmas and reconnects with lifelong crush/best friend. Determined to get out of the friend zone, he uses his newfound confidence to woo the girl of his dreams. However, things don't go according to plan as he must deal with the many obstacles that get in his way. This movie has lots of laughs mixed in with the perfect amount of heart making it an enjoyable movie to watch this Christmas.
5. 12 Dates of Christmas (2011)
Kate (Amy Smart) finds herself stuck reliving Christmas Eve over and over again after she ruins her blind date by trying to get back with her ex-boyfriend. Christmas Even continues to repeat until she can figure out how to break the cycle. Does she get back with her ex-boyfriend or give the new guy a chance? Just when she thinks she has gotten it all figured out the day resets again. She must learn what it means to have Christmas spirit and embrace all that has been given to her.
6. The Spirit of Christmas (2015)
With Christmas approaching, Kate Jordan (Jen Lilley) must go to Vermont to oversee the sale of an inn. However, she finds it difficult to sell because many believe the inn is haunted by a ghost. While visiting the inn, she meets Daniel, the ghost (Thomas Beaudoin). Desperate to get the inn sold, Kate and Daniel team up to figure out what happened to him so that he can find peace. However, along the way Kate finds herself falling for him. Romance and mystery combine with Christmas spirit to make this a great movie to watch during the holiday season.
7. Merry Kissmas (2015)
Unhappily engaged to a famous choreographer, Kayla (Karissa Lee Staples) takes an elevator ride and finds herself kissing a stranger (Brant Daugherty) under the mistletoe. As she starts to get feelings for this stranger, her fiance starts to change leaving her torn between the two men. Fun, sappy, and full of Christmas magic, this movie is perfect for the holiday season.
8. Love Actually (2003)
This Christmas movie intertwines the love stories of many different characters leading up to the holiday. This movie follows very different types of people in their attempt to find love. Though slightly ridiculous, this movie still manages to capture the holiday spirit with it's many interconnected stories. If you're looking for one movie to give you several different views of love on Christmas, this is the movie for you.
