September is a great month! It is a beautiful transition from hot summer days to perfect, mid 60 degree weather. If you live metro Atlanta, there are so many fun things you can do in September to make the most of the month! Check out eight fun things to do in September.

1. Buckhead Kickoff Mania

September 2--Start off football season the right way with drinks, food, and friends at the Buckhead Kickoff Mania. Put together by Atlanta Bar Tours, Kickoff Mania is a bar crawl featuring all of your favorite bars. Some of the participating bars include: Big Sky, 5 Paces Inn, Buckhead Saloon, Churchill's Pub, Dive Bar, Red Door, Genki, Hangovers, Lost Dog and Rock N Taco. 2. Dragon Con

September 2-5--If you've never been to Dragoncon, you're missing out! This is the largest convention/festival for pop-culture, sci fi, art, music, and much more. You'll find people dressed up as their favorite characters, actors and celebrities signing autographs and promoting their new art. There will be live music, DJ performances, a sick art show, drinks, and lots of fun. You'll be in the heart of Atlanta, but feel like you're in another dimension! 3. Marietta Art in the Park

September 3-5--Art in the Park is located in the beautiful and historic Marietta Square! This is a fun celebration of local and national art with booths and displays all over the Square. It will include all sorts of wonderful things people can look at and purchase such as paintings, photography, pottery, graphic arts, sculptures, jewelry, and wood-working. There will also be clothing pop-up shops, restaurants and much more. There is also a Chalk Spot where contestants are able to draw their art in chalk on square spaces and seen by hundreds of festival goers. Another great reason to go is, it's free! 4. Taste of Kennesaw

September 10--If you're a Kennesaw native, you've probably heard of this event. Located in downtown Kennesaw, this festival consists of 30+ local restaurants in which you and your friends and family can walk around and sample all of your faves, and try new foods! There will be live music, obstacle courses, high school football team competitions, and tailgating all day long! It starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes until 8:00 p.m.. The best part--it's free! 5. Atlanta DocuFest (ATL International Documentary Film Festival)

September 15-17--This 11th annual documentary festival will be held at the Mammal Gallery. The festival showcases some of the most amazing independent documentaries and films from all over the world. There is something for everyone at this festival because it includes a variety genres for all ages. If you're into meaningful and though-evoking films, you'll love this event. 6. Music Midtown

September 17 & 18--Every true ATLien knows about Music Midtown. It is one of the biggest music festivals hosted in Atlanta in the beautiful Piedmont Park. Enjoy great music by major headliners such as The Killers, Twenty One Pilots, Beck, Alabama Shakes, The Lumineers, and much more. There is also some of the best festival food you'll ever taste at Music Midtown, along with cool art and cold beer. 7. Fall Salvage

September 18--Salvage is an awesome Indie Craft Experience event in which attendees can browse and buy from a huge vintage market. There is an abundance of unique and eccentric pieces on display including clothing, home goods, decor, books, and more featuring the best of all the grooviest decades. If you love all things vintage and retro, you can't miss this! Located at the Yaarab Temple right off of Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, you and your pals are sure to find some gems at this event! 8. North Georgia State Fair

September 22-October 2--Oh the joys of crisp fall air, ferris wheels, petting zoos, funnel cakes, and kisses under the gorgeous Georgia stars. This event has always been a staple in our household because no matter how old you get, there is still so much fun to be had at the fair, and for a couple of nights you can reminisce and go back to being a kid again. There is so much to do at the North Georgia State Fair held at the Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta. You'll get to see Frankie Ballard, Jana Kramer, and many more artists perform your favorites. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home.
