There are so many things that I could be writing about right now. So many things that would truly make a difference in this world and create meaningful discussion. However, here I am, on spring break, not really wanting to do any of those things. It's my break. I want to write about something fun. Just because something doesn't have substance doesn't mean it doesn't matter. That's the truth. McChickens have basically no real, earthly substance, but do they matter? Absolutely. You know what else matters? This list of pretty and cool (dare I say-- pretty cool?) male celebrities. These are all men that I feel are underrated. They may be some new faces to tack up on your walls. Basically, Harry Styles will not be on this list. But many other studs will-- never fear. (Note: If you do not appreciate the beauty of the male form, this may not be for you. You should still read it though. Reading is fundamental.)
1. Matthew Daddario-- He plays Alec Lightwood on Freeform's (ABC Family) new show, Shadowhunters, which is based on the book series The Mortal Instruments. If you've ever read the books, you'll love him because he was cast perfectly. He is Alec. Daddario also loves small dogs and rocks the color black. He went to college for finances and, while he seems to be sticking to acting for now, is impressively sought after in the NYC finance world. Beauty and brains? Sign me right on up.
2. Jamie Campbell Bower-- Sticking with the Mortal Instruments theme, JCB played Jace Wayland in the movie adaptation of the first book a few summers ago. He was also briefly in the Harry Potter movies, and additionally played one of the Volturi in the Twilight saga movies. He's hilarious, describing himself as a "franchise whore" because of all the franchise movies he's been in (see above). I personally think his looks are actually pretty unique because he has such a delicate bone structure. The dude is prettier than I am by far. He sings (he showed off his singing chops in the movie Sweeney Todd) and is in a band called Counterfeit. Did I mention he's British? He has the whole accent thing going for him too.
3. Jesse Williams-- Mr. Williams is a beautiful human being, inside and out. His claim to fame is playing Jackson Avery on Grey's Anatomy, but he's done so so so much more than that. Before he became an actor, he was a high school teacher, which is awesome on its own. However, he has established quite the name for himself as an activist. He is on the board of 'The Advancement Project', which is a civil rights advocacy group, and he's the executive producer of 'Question Bridge: Black Males', which is a project centered around the black male identity. The writer of several articles, he also attended the Ferguson protests and skipped out on the Oscars this year to attend a fundraiser in Flint, MI.
4. Sebastian Stan-- You may know this guy better as Bucky Barnes/ The Winter Soldier. Although he's often overshadowed by my husband, Chris Evans, Stan is worth your time. He's a phenomenal actor with a great smile and a great heart. He's rarely seen in paparazzi photos without his dog, which I'm all about. Consistently charming, he's very gracious with fans, and genuinely seems like one of the nicest humans ever. His family immigrated to the U.S. when he was young, so he speaks Romanian fluently and will often demonstrate when fans ask. Bonus Perk: He was on Gossip Girl, playing Carter Baizen, one of the most infamous characters in the GG universe.
5. Dalton Rapattoni-- Okay so he's on American Idol now and is apparently doing really well. However, I've personally been a fan of Dalton for years now (omg-- so hipster and so trendy). He was in the boyband IM5 for a few years, which is how I was introduced to him. He ended up leaving the group because of creative differences, so he stands up for himself and his art. He has a wicked sense of humor, which used to be displayed on his awesome tumblr, but he recently deleted it (I totally didn't cry or anything...) so you'll have to take my word or watch old interviews on YouTube. Since I've known of him, he has constantly been an advocate for people that feel like 'outsiders.' He's also amazing at doing eyeliner and painting his nails, and in my book if you're good at eyeliner you're just plain talented.
6. Rajiv Dhall-- I'll be honest-- I don't know a ton about Dhall, but here's what I do know: He's a super talented singer that posts covers on Youtube regularly. He's obsessed with his dogs. He's from Michigan, which is where I'm from and we're relatively neat people. He also has a pretty good sense of humor, as he often gets comments about him looking like various male celebrities, to which he's said "apparently I look like every celebrity ever..so.."
7. Tom Hiddleston-- I'm well aware that Hiddleston has a loyal army of fans called 'Hiddlestoners' that adore and worship him, but I think more people should be aware of his angelic form. He's most well-known in mainstream media for portraying Loki in the Marvel movies. He's a wonderful actor with a Shakespearean background, adding an element to scenes we rarely see in Hollywood anymore. His impressions of other famous people are phenomenal. My favorite poem, May I Feel Said He was recorded by him, which somehow made it 15 times better and a million times sexier. Tom has been known to be outspoken about feminism, which is super cool. A picture of him and Emma Watson recently made its rounds on tumblr because she was wearing a crop top and, like a proper British gentleman, he found space to hold her waist without touching her bare skin.
This is the pic of Tom and Emma. Note the hand placement.
8. Thomas Augusto-- Thomas is in the singing group Midnight Red, which has existed since 2009. I love him because of his quirky and outlandishness, as well as his commitment to being who he is. He's a talented singer and dancer, as well as a total sweetheart, He's hilarious and honest, never afraid of showing too much. Fluent in Spanish, he often sings in the language when performing with his group. He has a crazy sense of style but he works it. Personally, I first swooned over him when I saw him with leopard print shaved into the side of his head. This one's a trendsetter, ya'll.
