There is more to your phone than Facebook and Instagram, I promise.

1. Unroll Me

If you are anything like the average college student, you have about 12,000 emails that you just click through to get rid of the notification, but you could not care any less about what they actually say. If this is the case, Unroll Me is a great solution. There is an online version and an app that lets you swipe left and right (just like tinder) and choose what sites you don't want emails from anymore. Super helpful and takes a lot less time than individually unsubscribing.

2. Genius Scan

This is an app that was actually recommended by my school counselor. It is super helpful when you have to send stuff into the school. It allows you to create a PDF through pictures of the papers and then send them through email. It comes in super handy when you are in a rush and need to send something to the academic office!

3. My Fitness Pal

If you are looking for a way to track what you're eating and avoid gaining the Freshman/Sophomore/Junior/Senior 15 (because gaining weight doesn't really come to a halt ever), My Fitness Pal will for sure help keep you on track.

4. Google Drive

With all the papers and group projects, Google Drive is commonly used. Usually, it is only used on computers, but it is really good to have it on your phone so you can check on stuff on the go.

5. Amazon Mobile

This is literally the most dangerous app because with one click you can *accidentally* buy $300 worth of gummy bears and a bean bag chair. But it is also super great for buying or renting books and for getting stuff you are too lazy to find at the store.

6. The Skimm

This is an app and a daily email. Honestly, this email is the only reason I don't sound like an idiot any time I speak about the world. It is a daily news email that comes over night and not only is it really informative, it is also super funny. Since often times college kids don't have time to watch the news, it's a great thing to read right after you wake up in the morning.

7. Groupon

You will never regret getting a really great deal on something local. This app is sure to give these deals to you. Just check the nearby area and you're sure to find something fun to do for an insane discount.

8. Cash and/or Venmo

Cash and Venmo both do virtually the same thing, but the group of people you're around will decide which app you should use. Cash is often used amongst the older crowd, but I tend to prefer it. Cash sends money straight from bank account to bank account, while Venmo stores money in its server and then you use it to pay others through the app. Because of that, it's super convenient and won't take things out of your bank account every time. It also keeps you from using that money as easily. Don't worry, you can send the money to your bank account whenever you want, it just takes about a day to get there.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
