8 Amazing Long Island Bagel Stores You Need To Visit
Newsday

I've had the great joy of growing up on Long Island. I'm sure you've heard a lot of things about it, we are good for a lot, but most importantly, we have the best bagels. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a huge foodie, and since I was a kid, bagels have always been my favorite food. So, I have gone on the hunt to find some of the best bagel places on Long Island. Here are the ones you should check out!

1. Bagel Boss

Multiple Locations

Bagel Boss is known for their amazing tasting bagels filled a mile high with your spread! They have a unique variety of cream cheeses and great customer service! The best part? They're open 24/7!

2. Bagel Biz

Melville, NY

Great for their "old fashioned chewy bagels"! Bagel Biz has a huge variety on their menu, but known for their consistently good customer service and great tasting bagels.

3. Signature Bagels

Riverhead, NY

Looking for some of the best bagels on the east end? Head on over to get yourself a great, fluffy, doughy bagel! Great smell from the second you walk in! They have great new cream cheese flavors, and friendly employees.

4. Hand Rolled Bagels

New Hyde Park, NY

Now, I have not personally tried these but they come in highly recommended. These are crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy in the middle! Their house cream cheeses are the highest rated I've seen as well! Apparently they are so good you don't even need a spread!

5. Strathmore Bagels

East Setauket, NY

Now, I don't care what anyone says, this is the best bagel place on Long Island. I have grown up eating bagels here and I have found no place to compare. Their bagels are always warm and fresh. They have the greatest tasting cream cheese and great customer service. They seem to have a unique taste which is highly addictive. Dig in!

6. Wally's Bagels

North Babylon, NY

If you're in the mood for a "comfort bagel" then Wally's Bagels in North Babylon, NY is the place to go! Although it may be small inside and there's no room to sit down and enjoy their bagels inside, it won't matter once you take one bite. Once you're there try their new rainbow bagel with funfetti cream cheese! You'll be in heaven!

7. First Class Bagels

Deer Park, NY and Northport, NY

This is the bagel store that has everything you could possibly imagine. You can walk in and get a bacon, egg, and cheese for breakfast, and a deli sandwich for lunch! They also have a huge salad bar where you can customize your own salad! They have daily soups you can choose from and different types of coffee too! This is definitely a spot you need to check out if you happen to be driving down Deer Park Avenue on the way to the beach this summer!

8. Avenue Bagels

Deer Park, NY

This is the family owned and operated bagel store that everyone will be at on Sunday mornings in the Deer Park area. It's on the smaller side but there are tables where you can sit at and enjoy the company of another person with an awesome bagel! They also have a smaller coffee bar where you can make your own cup of coffee to your own personal liking.

Well folks that's a wrap! Try out these amazing bagel places and let me know what you think!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
