As the end of November approaches, so does the beginning of the winter season. Whether you're a fan of the cold weather or not, it's time to face the inevitable. Snow-covered trees and freezing temperatures go great with one thing--good music. Grab your blanket and a cup of tea and cozy up to a few of these albums this winter:
1. I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it - The 1975
Aside from the album title alone being one of the most beautiful things you've ever heard, the album itself follows close behind. If you're into alternative/rock with a warming/love-story feel to it, this is the perfect album to indulge in. Here's a sneak preview of their latest album:
2. 22, A Million - Bon Iver
Bon Iver is hands down one of my favorite artists. When I first heard his new album, I wasn't so sure about it. It's definitely not the classic "For Emma", "Holocene"-type Bon Iver you're used to. After listening to it the second time around, I fell in love. He took a unique approach to this one with crazy song titles like "22 (OVER S∞∞N)" and "715-Cr∑∑ks", crazy enough to make you think twice before pressing play. However, once you do be prepared to be transported. His voice and unique song-style takes your mind to places you didn't think Bon Iver was capable of taking you to. Here's one of the many songs on his album (and one of my favorites), "33 GOD":
3. For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver
Yes, another Bon Iver album. If you like the more classic Bon Iver style, stick to this album. There's something so soothing about his voice that makes you want to listen while you're stuck inside wrapped in a blanket.
4. Barchords - Bahamas
The acoustic-vibe and uplifting melodies on this album are sure to bring some brightness to your dreary, winter days. Here's one of my favorite songs from this album, "Lost in the Light":
5. Cleopatra (Deluxe) - The Lumineers
The Lumineers are another one of my favorites. Each individual song tells its own inspiring story. This album is pure bliss. Listening to this with a cup of coffee in the morning will surely give you the energy and inspiration you need for the day. Make sure you listen to the "Deluxe" version so you don't miss out on great songs like "White Lie" and "Where the Skies are Blue". On a cold snowy day, this album will definitely take your mind to a place where skies are blue. The Lumineers also just released the music video to one of the album's songs, "Sleep on the Floor", and it's absolutely beautiful. Take a look:
6. Dream Your Life Away - Vance Joy
Vance Joy is one of those voices you could just take a nap to. Winter calls for plenty of naps, so be sure to add some Vance Joy to your days. Here's a preview:
7. Day Breaks - Norah Jones
If you haven't listened to Norah Jones while watching the snowfall, I highly recommend it. She has one of the most soothing voices, and just a little over a month ago she released her newest album, Day Breaks. If you're looking for new and unique Norah Jones songs, take a listen to her latest album:
8. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful - Florence + the Machine
There's something about the deep and enriching voice of Florence Welch, the lead vocalist that just reminds me of winter. Released over a year ago, this album is breathtakingly beautiful. You can listen to this for hours and still feel empowered.
