With the recent cliff-hanging finale of The CW's "The Flash" still having its viewers reeling, many like myself are wondering how the producers are going to proceed this coming Fall. However, certain fears creep up that threaten the longevity of such a successful show that "The Flash" has come to be.
With this in mind, I have compiled a list of seven things that could propel this show forward, or drop it into developmental purgatory. Be wary of spoilers for those of you who have yet to finish season two. You have been warned!
1. Although it's a different Flashpoint-style event, DO NOT make it something it isn't.
Many sources, including the shows star Grant Gustin, have stated that the show is doing "their own version" of Flashpoint. This is great and all, but I hope the producers don't try to mold this iconic, universe-altering story into something it isn't. There are now four shows in the CW's expanding "Flarrow" Universe. Make this affect them as well!
2. DO include some more of the true, quirky Barry moments.
In the comics, Barry Allen is many things, but he's no Batman. He's not known for sulking and brooding over his problems. Serious moments are needed, yes. But give us, the fans, the quips that had us fall in love with the character in the first place.
3. Bring back missed characters. *cough* Eddie Thawne *cough*
Now, I'm not naming names or anything, but there are some really good characters that just haven't been used to their full potential. With something so timeline altering as Flashpoint, why not bring them back?
4. One shots. One shots Galore.
Some of the best story arcs from both seasons we're the one shot stories. Those ingenious, sometimes ridiculous episodes that were one and done. These are a must for a character with a Rouges Gallery like on "The Flash."
5. DO NOT pull a "Batman versus Superman."
For those of you who saw DC's circus launch pad that was BVS, you know what I mean. Don't try to set up too many huge stories in the course of the season. Work with one at a time. Get to that resolution first. Hints are nice. Blueprints are now.
6. Black Racer. Bring it in!
We've seen him. We all lost our minds. Now, don't make this the last time that we see him.
7. Kid Flash and Jessie Quick
We saw in the last season that now both Wally West and Jessie Wells have been exposed to the Dark Matter that gave the metas their powers. We can only handle so many references to their comic counterparts before we become impatient.
