As I sit here and reminisce on another year gone by, I realize I am dreading the same thing this year as every other year, which is New Years Eve. I am realizing that I am not the only one who feels like a scrooge of New Years. So in honor of the end of 2016, and the start of 2017, here are 7 reasons why New Years Eve needs to go.
1. Plans
The most obvious reason why people hate New Years Eve is because finding plans is stressful. There is no other night of the year that there is that much pressure to go out and have a good time, and sometimes all that pressure just kills the holiday spirit.
2. Hosting
Nobody wants to host New Years Eve, so we all just sit around hoping someone else hosts before you do.
3. Traffic
NYE traffic makes getting into a major city almost impossible.
4. Too Much Hype
There is TOO MUCH HYPE for New Years Eve, especially when the majority of people go out and have a great time regularly. Why are we so excited to do the same things we do at a regular party on December 31st? All the hype and excitement pretty much is guaranteed to set us all up for disappointment making NYE a bust.
5. New Years Kiss
I know I am not the only person who is not a fan of this tradition. Who wants to feel obligated to kiss someone at midnight?Shoutout to my single ladies who don't need no man.
6. The "Ball"
We literally sit around a New Years Eve waiting for a ball to drop? How uneventful is that when you really think about it?
7. Saying Goodbye To Another Year is Sad
While I hate to be a complete downer, but New Years Eve is kind of depressing when you think about it. Another year gone by so fast and leaving more behind. That song that plays after the song drops is pretty sad too...
If only we could treat New Years Eve like it was any other day, there wouldn't be so many NYE haters like myself. My wish for my future New Years Eves are to have a good time without so many expectations, and for once have a simple plan. I am hopeful that maybe one day I can enjoy New Years, but until then, the negativity surrounding this disappointing holiday continues.
