I'm sure most of us who watch YouTube regularly have already realized that it is much more than just cat videos and memes. The platform has grown and has taken over regular forms of streaming to the dismay of television producers and has provided independent content creators a place to express themselves and show their crafts. YouTube is not perfect, however. While the popular, mainstream YouTubers may be fun and entertaining to watch, there are others out there that are not always featured that maybe you should check out if you haven't.

Here is a list of 7 YouTube channels that you should be subscribed to.

1. Secular Talk

Hosted by Kyle Kulinski, Secular Talk is a news channel that focuses on bringing about news that is unbiased and truthful. As his channel description states, he is “loyal to the facts,” and prioritizes “principles over politicians.” He’s a Secular Humanist, Agnostic-Atheist, and a Social Democrat and hosts his show through these lenses.

2. AsapTOUGHT

I’m sure you’ve heard of AsapSCIENCE, but if you haven’t, subscribe to them too. The same people that give you AsapScience give you AsapThought, a science channel that focuses a bit more on social topics. Mitch and Greg are intelligent and hilarious and make learning so much fun.

3. SHEP689

I found this channel about 5 or 6 years ago, and absolutely fell in love with Will and RJ, the now married couple that host this channel. Even though they don’t vlog every single day like they used to, they still have five years’ worth of vlogs to watch. It’s so beautiful to watch them grow as people and as a couple over the years as they battle with mental health and everyday struggles. I really loved their channel when I first watched and now because they showed their viewers a real, happy, and beautiful gay relationship, something that was really lacking in the media and still is today. They provided a model of what a loving relationship looked like even for people like me as a straight female. Everyone who watched them could see how much they loved each other and felt that maybe they could also have that as well.

4. MissFenderr & MissAlaynaa

These are two channels by YouTuber Alayna Fender. She is makes videos on sexual education, relationships, sexuality and mental health. She’s also hilarious, and successfully educates her viewers while simultaneously making them laugh. She currently has a running series entitled, “I Don’t Bi It” in which she interviews LGBTQ+ YouTubers about their sexuality in a very sarcastic and funny way. It’s worth a watch.

5. Anthony Magnabosco

Have you ever seen one of those street preachers? I'm sure most of us on college campuses have. Anthony’s like that but better. Anthony is a street epistemologist. He began on the street but moved on to college campus and other populated areas where he speaks to people with deeply-held beliefs. Epistemology is a branch of Philosophy that studies knowledge and the ways in which we acquire it.While a street preacher may try to convert listeners to some religion, Anthony simply tries to have cordial conversations with believers. His main question usually asks believers to provide reasoning for their deeply-held beliefs.Anthony is not trying to de-convert or tell anyone that what they believe isn’t true. He hopes, however, to get people to think about the reasons why they believe what they do. According to his channel description, he wants people to use reliable methods to arrive at their beliefs rather than just mindlessly believing. His videos usually focus more on religion, but he does speak to people who believe in karma, ghosts, or certain political ideas.

6. HANNAH WITTON

She is a British YouTuber known for her videos on sex, sexuality and others, and she’s just recently launched her first book, Doing It. She does book reviews talks about controversial topics, and does so with a cool British accent.

7. Chris Thompson (SupDaily06)

Chris is an absolutely amazing YouTuber. He makes almost daily videos where he talks about and gives great advice on love, life and relationships. He has a hilarious series named Tinder Terrors where he started off recounting his Tinder terror stories, but now recounts other people’s stories and showcases hilarious submitted Tinder profiles and messages. You should totally give him a watch!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
