1. Castle Ruins Hike
Near Morrison Colorado, this hike is nestled on Mount Falcon. Up there you will find the remains of a castle that was built in the early 1900's by John Brisbane Walker and was originally three-stories tall. This structure was ruined after a lightning strike in 1918 and can only be found if you find the 2.3 mile hike on the Mount Falcon Trail.
2. Aircraft Crash Site Hike
Over the course of years there have been plane crashes across the state of Colorado and some are in places too remote that removal of all the debris is too difficult. A crash site that is relatively easy to find is the UH-1 Huey Helicopter crash site near Colorado Springs. In order to find it though, you have to head towards the northern side of the boulder field, this site is very remote and visitors should treat it with respect and leave no trace that they were there.
3. Dinosaur Tracks Hike
This hike is a hefty 10 mile round trip adventure. Located in southeastern Colorado's Picketwire Canyon, at the Purgatoire River Track site, there is a stretch of over 1,300 dinosaur tracks! Although you'll need to be in shape for this hike, it is well worth it.
4. Ghost Town Hike
One of the most iconic abandoned spots in Colorado is in the town of Crystal. Its most notorious structure is the Crystal Mill, but it is located after a 5.5 mile hike down a bumpy dirt road.
5. Hidden Cove Hike
Guffey Cove, also known as Paradise Cove, is a popular place for cliff jumpers and is just a short mile hike to get there. The area is surrounded by several cliffs and a beautiful canyon to explore.
6. Cliffside Hike
Telluride's Via Ferrata is for the thrill seekers who want to mix climbing with hiking. If you are brave enough to clip in and walk the footholds of the rock you can see a gorgeous view of the Bridal Veil Falls.
7. Otherwordly Landscape Hike
Hidden in the small town of Calhan, a walk around the Paint Mines Interpretive Park is one of the most unique hikes in the state.
