Being in a dorm room instead of being back home during Halloween can make you feel un-festive. If you're home, there will be pumpkins, spider webs, ghosts and candy. However, at school things can seem a little sad when you look around and don't see any decorations or signs that halloween is coming. But, who said you can't make your dorm room more festive to get into the spirit of the holiday? Here are a few ways to get your dorm room ready for halloween.
1. Buy some pumpkins
Almost every Wal-Mart or local farm market has pumpkins, and they're pretty cheap. You could paint or even carve your pumpkin as well. So, head on over and pick your self up a pumpkin because they are great decorations!
2. Hang some spiderwebs and spiders
Again, most stores around you will probably have some spiderwebs. They are a quick and great way to add some spookiness to your room. And if you're feeling extra adventurous, add some spiders! You could even make some out of black construction paper.
3. Make some Halloween themed food
If you search on Pinterest you can find many scary food items that you can make. Some of them are super simple, and other will require that you have a kitchen. Nonetheless, this is a great thing to do with friends to get into the spirit!
4. Have a Halloween movie night
Invite some friends over (or you could just have a quiet night by yourself, no judgement) and set up a movie marathon. The 13 Nights of Halloween on Freeform is a great idea if you're stuck on what to watch.
5. Get some candy for your room
Next time you're out grocery shopping, pick up some of your favorite candy and even some of your roommate's favorite candy if you're feeling nice! Then put it in a Halloween themed bowl and you're good to go.
6. Add some orange and black twinkle lights
Sometimes you can find some orange and black Halloween lights at the store. These are a great addition to your common room or even your own bedroom. You will definitely start to get into the spirit once these are up!
7. Make a Halloween themed banner
This is one you could definitely DIY. Pick out your favorite Halloween saying, like "Happy Halloween" or "Trick or Treat". Then you can cut out these letters on some cardboard paper in shapes, like triangles. Then connect them with a string and hang them up!
