Second semester slump? Don't worry. Try these seven tricks that will help you get to summer break as painlessly as possible.

1. Wake Up Earlier

I know, waking up earlier sounds extremely difficult. However, it's not too hard to go to bed thirty minutes earlier and wake up fifteen minutes earlier. In those extra fifteen minutes, take time to make yourself a cup of coffee, make your bed, and mentally prepare for the day. You'll feel more energized and you'll actually start to like the mornings.

2. Spend One Hour Outside

Get outside! Get a group together and play soccer. Take a walk to the store. Jog with your best friend. Just one hour in the fresh air will help you buckle down and focus for the rest of the day.

3. Clean Your Dorm/Room

This is a must. Taking on a brand new semester is much easier when your personal space is stress free. Take a Sunday and do your laundry, clean out your desk, vacuum the carpet, do whatever needs to be done. Then you can relax (and do homework!) in your freshly cleaned space.

4. Make a Summer Bucket List

If you're already dying for summer, make a summer bucket list and tape it to your wall. Whenever you lack motivation to do work, look at your bucket list and remind yourself that with each assignment you finish you are closer to summer.

5. Write Down All of Your Due Dates

Take all of those syllabuses that are stuffed in your bag and write them down in an accessible place. This way you will know exactly when you need to start and finish assignments for each class.

6. Don't Study in Your Room

Try studying in the library or your favorite coffee shop. That way, you will not be tempted to distract yourself with all of the things in your personal space.

7. Start a New Netflix Series

And only watch one episode a week. Give yourself something to look forward to each week, and the weeks will fly by. It will be summer before you know it!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
