7 Ways To Save The Ocean

A lot of times when people think of climate change, and global warming, the effects on the oceans usually aren't the first thing to come to mind. These are ways to help save the ocean and the animals living in it. The ocean needs our help too.

1. Eat sustainable seafood

Overfishing is a problem that is leading to global effects in the environment. Make sure to always buy your seafood sustainably and think smart before buying it.

2. Do not liter, especially near the beach.

Littering at the beach can be extremely harmful to creatures living in the ocean. Plastic that gets into the ocean will stay there for years and sea animals often think floating liter is food which they eat and can end up hurting or killing them. Make sure to always pick up your trash.

3. Limit your use of fertilizer.

Fertilizer is a harsh chemical that is dangerous to the ocean. The excess ends up in the ocean and can be harmful and can actually lower the levels of oxygen in the ocean which sea creatures need to survive.

4. Use less energy

Carbon dioxide is not only effecting the temperatures of the world, but the oceans as well. Fossil fuels can be cut back significantly with smart choices. Buy energy efficient cars (you spend less in the long run with them as well) and walk or bike to close locations to reduce the use of fossil fuels.

5. Support different organizations that are trying to protect the ocean

There are many organizations out there that are working really hard to protect the ocean. Think about donating some spare change to these organizations, any amount helps.

6. Think about your water activities.

Excess boating can lead to the high amounts of gas into water, instead try kayaking or paddle boarding. Limit your boating as much as possible.

7. Education!

Educate yourself and others about the harmful effects of fossil fuels and litter on the ocean.

We need water for life on earth and if we keep destroying the water at this rate the earth won't be able to sustain life. Keep the ocean beautiful.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.
