Being a college student, odds are you are probably at least a little cheap. I mean we are all broke and just trying to get through with the little money with have, and not spend the $3 in our bank account on Taco Bell (thank you Taco Bell for having cheap prices). If you know what I am talking about, you are probably cheap just like me, but if you are not sure here are some ways to know for sure if you are cheap or not.
1. You know you are cheap if you put off buying things until you go home so that then your parents will (hopefully) buy it for you.

I do this all the time. I am in college and can not afford to buy all my snacks and water and everything so whenever I go home I make a big trip to Target and Sam’s Club with my mom and stock up on everything I need. Before coming to college my parents just bought most of this stuff for me so when I got here I was not used to having to buy my own food. That reminds me, Mom I need to go to Target this weekend when I come home.
2. You use coupons.
Growing up my parents would use coupons all the time. I did not really think anything of it, I mean if you could save money on something why would you pay full price? So naturally, I use coupons all the time too. A 19 year old college guy using coupons might seem weird to some people, but I am saving money so that is all that matters.
3. You only shop clearance racks.
Whenever I go into a store to shop I go straight for the clearance racks in the back of the store and check what sales they have going on. I actually do not think I have ever paid full price for anything. I also work in retail so most of the time I just shop at that store only because of my discount.
4. You rarely check your bank account.
I am in a constant dilemma between checking my bank account to see how little I have in there or just not checking at all. Before I buy anything I have to make sure I have enough money in there but other than that, I try not to look at it. I just do not need that much sadness in my life so I prefer not to look in there.
5. You regret spending money.
Whenever I spend my limited supply of money I usually tend to regret it. When I look through my bank account at all the stuff I bought previously I just think to myself, “Why the hell did you spend the $4 at Taco Bell five months ago? You could have been $4 richer today if you did not spend that!”. It is a constant struggle of wanting to spend money but wanting to save it.
6. Free anything means you are there.
If I hear there is an event going on at school that has anything free, I will go to it without a doubt. I got four free tee shirts so far this year and I really did not want to go to those events but I wanted those free tee shirts. Free food is even more tempting. If someone is offering free food there is no way I am missing that. One, it is free, and two, it isn’t crappy dining hall food.
7. You pick up money on the ground.
Whether it’s a penny or a hundred dollar bill, if there is money on the ground you are going to pick it up. For awhile back home I would do this all the time and put it in this little electronic bank and then every month or so I would have around $20. So to anyone who says I’m dumb for picking up a penny, it adds up and in a month or so, I will have $20 more than you.
