7 Ways To Have Fun This Summer
WeHeartIt

The temperature's getting a little bit higher, the sun's a bit brighter and the ocean is calling your name. It's all the typical signs that summer has arrived. As finals come to an end, it's time to begin relaxing! Whether or not you're working a part-time job or just hanging out at home for the next three months, this is the prime time for you to destress from finals and well...have fun! But with all of the free time, probably comes a lot of boredom. But worry not! I've gathered a list of things that could help you possibly have the best summer ever...all you've got to do is give it a shot!

1. Take a day trip to the beach.

OK, now this one was a definite given, I mean, what's summer without the beach? Grab your towels, your bags, some snacks, drinks and your friends because there's nothing better than the ocean breeze and some sand between your toes. Oh, and don't forget the two most important things—good music and sunscreen!

2. Scroll through Pinterest for some great DIY crafts.

Maybe it's raining outside or maybe you're recovering from the sunburn you got from your beach trip (I told you to bring sunscreen) or maybe you just don't really feel like being out in that heat. Whatever your reason, just because you're not outside doesn't mean you still can't have some fun. Nothing beats some good ole arts and crafts and Pinterest is full of creative DIY activities guaranteed to occupy your day. And who knows—maybe you can find a cute DIY decoration for your dorm in the fall.

3. Go to a concert.

This one might cost a bit of money, but hey, nothing beats the sound of your favorite song filling up an entire stadium as you and thousands of other people sing the lyrics out loud. And summer is the perfect time to perhaps catch some big name acts on their tours, or even some smaller acts at venues such as bars and county fairs. But no matter the artist or the size of the venue, the music is what really matters—and concerts are the best place to find it (obviously).

4. Make some cool drinks.

If you haven't seen the videos on your Facebook feed, Tipsy Bartender is a business that makes, well, pretty cool drinks. The ideas are out of this world and after each video you watch, you're guaranteed to have had saved it in your bookmarks for later. Well, later has come and what better time to make that shark attack shot you've been dying to make. Just remember to drink responsibly!

5. Take a day trip.

Pack your bag, put on your sunglasses and get your playlist ready, because your crossroads dream is about to come to life. Sometimes staying in the same town for a while gets a little boring after you've done all that you can do. So why not grab a couple of your friends, hop in a car, play some music and drive to another town or a place you've never been to and check out the sights? A little day trip like this could spark the wanderlust you never knew you had.

6. Have a movie night with your best friends.

When there's not much to do in your town at night and you don't really feel like driving out to your local movie theater and spending money, you can just call some friends, grab some snacks and have your own movie marathon at home! If you want a wide selection, have your friend(s) bring at least one or two of their own movies! You can make it an action-packed night, a girls night, or even just a scary movie night! The choice is up to you!

7. Relax.

If all else fails and you're left with either too much to do or little to nothing to do, just take the high road and relax. That's what summer is all about. So keep on your pajamas, pop in a movie, grab some snacks and sit back and relax on your couch. These next three months belong to you and are going to be as great as you want them to be.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
