As a girl in college, I know the struggle of having to get up for a class at 7:50 in the morning, especially because I am commuting 45 minutes for that class. So here's a few tips to make your life a little easier while getting ready in the morning. This can apply to any early-morning activities.

1. Utilize the time you have the night before.

One of the best ways to save time in the morning is to take time the night before. Plan your outfit, pack your lunch, take a shower, or just think through all that you have to do in the morning. Now, I know that it doesn't make any sense to be able to do all of your routine at night, but every tiny little bit goes a long way.

2. Drink a full glass of water when you wake up to kick-start your metabolism.

It is important to drink water when you first wake up because it makes you feel more refreshed, it fuels your brain, and flushes out the toxins from your body. Starting your morning this way is hard to beat.

3. Create an exciting morning playlist that ups your mood while you're getting ready.

It can't hurt to make your morning routine a little more fun by dancing and singing along to your favorite songs, especially if you have a long, early-morning commute like I do.

4. Try DIY press-on eyeshadow tattoos.

Personally, I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I have been seeing videos on how to make press-on eyeshadow tattoos, so I decided to try them out. They really do work and are perfect to make the night before. You basically get a square of crafting foam and you cut out a piece in the shape of your eyelid. Then, you pack on your eyeshadow how you would on your actual eye, and then whenever you are ready to use it, you can press the foam onto your eyelid. All you have to do afterwards is blend out the edges a bit. Presto!

5. Hang wrinkled clothes in the bathroom while you shower.

This technique is just like steaming your clothes. It actually does get the wrinkles out and you don't have to lift a finger. This is perfect for a rushed morning.

6. Learn new hairstyles that you can do when you're in a time crunch.

Watch YouTube videos in your free time to get some ideas on some new hairstyles to try, but my personal favorite is a side braid. Quick and easy...and cute!

7. Breakfast on-the-go.

Last but not least, make fruit smoothies the night before and pair them with a granola bar for the perfect on-the-go breakfast for a rushed morning. Also, it never hurts to make a dozen muffins over the weekend to have for breakfast during the week.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
