We all have days where we beat ourselves up for even the smallest of mistakes.

From comparing ourselves to others, or feeling like all our hard work wasn't enough - it's easy to be overwhelmed and negative about our achievements and successes. What we need is a little bit more kindness in our daily lives, especially towards ourselves!

In this blog post, I'm going to share with you five simple ways that you can start being kinder to yourself today. By making small changes directly related to self-care, practicing gratitude and setting realistic goals, you'll soon start noticing changes - both mentally and physically - that will help not only your well-being but also give you rewarding confidence boosts when dealing with life's challenges. Let's get started!

Take Time For You

Taking some time out of your day for yourself is always a great idea. Whether it's soaking in a hot bath and listening to soothing music, or simply taking some time to read that book you've been dying to start - dedicating 30 minutes each day to do something solely for you will make a world of difference.

Practice Gratitude

It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the stress and negativity that can come from day-to-day life. Instead, try to focus on being thankful for the little things.

From a delicious cup of coffee in the morning to a sunset that lit up the sky - taking note of the small things will help you stay positive and focused on achieving your goals.

Set Realistic Goals

When setting goals for yourself, it's important to make sure they are attainable. While it might be nice to think that in six months time you'll have achieved something huge - the reality is that this may not happen.

Instead, focus on what you can achieve in the present and make sure to set achievable goals that will help you get there.

Eat Wholesome Food

Eating wholesome food is one of the most important things you can do for your body. Not only does it give you the energy and nutrients to keep going throughout the day, but it also helps to nourish your mind, strengthen your immunity and improve your overall well-being.

Why not try making a detox smoothie or low-carb zuchinni fritters to help fill your body with nutrition and goodness?

Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly is another great way to keep your body and mind healthy. Whether it's a HIIT session, a yoga class or going for a run - making sure you move your body each day will help improve your energy levels, reduce stress and boost your mood.

Plus, when you exercise endorphins are released, which is a natural way to help your body and mind feel good.

Sleep Well

Getting enough sleep each night is essential for your mental and physical health. Not only does it help you stay alert and energized throughout the day, but it also helps your brain to process information more accurately and keep concentration levels high.

Aim for around 8 hours of sleep every night and make sure to create a calming and comfortable environment that will help you drift off into a peaceful slumber.

Reward Yourself

Nothing feels quite like rewarding yourself for a job well done - whether it's treating yourself to something nice or simply taking some time off from work, celebrate your successes and take time for self-care. This will not only help boost your confidence, but will also give you the motivation and energy to keep striving towards your goals.

By following these five simple steps and being kinder to yourself, you'll soon start to notice a positive change in your mood and well-being. So, what are you waiting for? Get started today!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
