7 Ways to Start Fresh in the New Year

A new year means a new you! January 1st is the refreshing, new start you were looking for. What will you do this year? Here are some ways to take advantage of your new beginning.

1. Clean out your closet.

At the beginning of every year I clean out my closet. If you haven't worn something in a year, it's time to move on. Sell some old clothes, donate the rest and spend some of the Christmas money you got on a new wardrobe. Being a new you requires some new outfits.

2. Change up your hair.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I very often get bored of the way I look. To resolve this issue, I constantly change up my hairstyle. Sport a new hair color, get highlights or a new cut- a perfect fresh start!

3. Clean your home.

A fresh start also means a clean start. It's still awhile until spring cleaning, so get a start on it now! Clean places you never do, such as display shelves or behind the TV. A clean living environment will also help you be more productive in 2017.

4. Start new, productive habits.

If you start something now, it's more likely to become a habit in the new year to come. Organize a planner, take care of responsibilities early and get more sleep. These things will help to make a happier, healthier you.

5. Go somewhere new.

A great way to get a fresh start is to change up your scenery. Find a new space to hang out, a productive space to study or a new, yummy restaurant. I find myself getting into the same, boring places too often. Adding something new keeps things refreshing.

6. Meet new people.

Put yourself out there and add new people into your friend group. New people mean new stories, adventures and good times, so don't be afraid to change things up! Others want to meet new people just like you, so have fun with it!

7. Go after your goals.

If you want to accomplish something this year, do it! Instead of being all talk and no action, set goals you know are obtainable. Once you finish one, set another. It's always nice to have something to work towards.

Take advantage of your fresh start and have a happy, healthy new year!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
