While living the college life it can be hard to find time to go to the gym and get a good workout in. And with the freshman, sophomore, junior and even senior 15 right around the corner it is almost obligatory that you do some type of fitness. But before you know it classes begin to pick up and finishing assignments take precedence over going to the gym. Then when you finally have time on the weekend the fitness hours are so limited that you end up not being able to go anyway. But don’t worry here are seven simple ways to add a little fitness into your life without sacrificing your time.
1. Take the stairs
Yes, walking up to the third floor may seem like the hardest part of your day but it can also be the greatest workout of your day. Taking the stairs over the elevator helps burns a few extra calories during the day that you would not burn otherwise. You may be breathing heavy by the time you get to class but it will make you better in the long run.
2. Carry a water bottle with you at all times
Drinking water is the key to fitness success! It is very important to stay hydrated through your day not only for fitness but to stay focused in your classes. Plus you will start to feel better because you are putting more natural fluids into your body than soda or juice. So by carrying a water bottle with you at all times you will be more likely to regularly drink water throughout the day. Plus if you carry around a reusable water bottle then you are also saving the environment by limiting plastic!
3. Grab an apple from the dining hall
Another key to fitness is eating right so make sure to grab an apple or an orange before you leave the the dining hall, that way you have some fresh fruit to snack on later in the day. A lot of what can leave you feeling sluggish in the afternoon and less likely to go to the gym is eating chips or chocolate as a study snack. But by having an apple by your side you will be able to curve your hunger and continue to put natural healthy foods into your body.
4. Do a TV workout while watching Netflix
There are so many TV workouts on the internet now, just google your favorite TV show or your latest Netflix binge and find a workout. Doing this is the perfect way to not only watch Netflix and take a break from homework but also get a workout in, no need to have to choose between one or the other. You can find workouts for 22 minute shows and 43 minute shows so there is plenty of variety for the length of workout that you want. TV workouts are definitely something you should check out next time you can’t decide between going to the gym and relaxing.
5. Turn everything into an exercise
While walking around campus it is super easy to add some lunges into your stride. Or while studying for you exam look at a PowerPoint slide then do some crunches. There are many simple and easy ways to add some exercises into your everyday schedule.
6. Do a YouTube workout
