7 Ways To Relax And De-Stress

Sometimes life can get pretty hard. As adults we run into all sorts of crazy, unplanned events that pop into our lives. We have payments to make, errands to run, meetings to attend, practices, family dinners- the list goes on and on. It's easy to get lost in the rush of every day life. We get so caught up in our worries that we become stressed... So stressed in fact that it can actually harm our health. Stress causes a lot more problems than you might think, but it can be maintained and even eliminated with a few of these tips:

1. Exercise Daily

Whether it's running, weight lifting or even yoga, exercise is important. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins that can induce feelings of pleasure or euphoria. This definitely puts a pep in your step, which is why it helps you get stress off your mind.

2. Take a hot bath

Come on, even Chandler Bing knows how to relax! A hot bath is definitely a stress reliever because it helps loosen up those tight, tired muscles in your body. Add your favorite bubble bath, candles, some tunes and maybe even a drink and you're all set!

3. Listen to music

Sometimes you just have to dance it out with your closest friends. Or you can just sit and listen to relaxing music with a glass of wine. Whichever works for you.

4. Breathe Deeply

If your stress hits you at a time when you can't just walk away to relax, try breathing deeply a few times. Focus on inhaling and exhaling with slow, even breaths. The bag is totally optional.

5. Sleep

Sleeping is an important part of remaining healthy. If you aren't sleeping enough, or if you aren't getting good quality sleep, then it may effect how calmly you can approach stressful situations. My motto is, "when in doubt, sleep it out!"

6. Meditate

As cheesy as it sounds, meditating can also help you relieve stress. All you have to do is find a quiet, comfortable place to relax. Then, close your eyes and drift into your happy place. It will do you good to stop thinking about all those stressful things going on in your life.

7. Socialize

Sometimes all you really need is some friend therapy. It's nice to have someone to vent to, or just someone to take your mind off all your problems. Friends are your biggest supporters, and support can be the right cure for stress!

Stress is a common obstacle in everyone's life, but it doesn't have to take over. Your body knows when it's under too much stress, so be sure to listen to it. If these ways don't work for you then just know there are PLENTY of ways to take your mind off of things. These are just a few of my favorites. Keep calm and move forward! Like I always say, "this too shall pass."

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
