7 Ways To Prepare For Finals

Finals. The mention of the word makes every college student cringe. Although you knew these dreaded tests were coming, you had no idea it would hit you like this. If you are about to come up on finals, here are some tips for you!

1. Eat a good breakfast.

Make sure you get up in time to get yourself going for the day. You never want to get into a three hour exam and have your stomach start growling. Be good to your body, and make sure you are well fed!

2. Get some sleep.

I know this may seem impossible because you want to stay up all night and study, but you have to make time for sleep. The worst thing you can do is stay up all night then get into the test and realize you didn't retain any of the information because you were too sleepy.

3. Stay hydrated.

Make sure you drink plenty of water and that you take a water bottle with you into your exam. It is always a good idea for when you start feeling a little nervous and stressed out.

4. Study in 20-minute intervals.

Do not ever sit down for 2 hours at a time and try to cram information into your head. You need to give yourself a break every now and then. It is also proven that if you give yourself more break time, you will retain the information more.

5. Start preparing for your exam the same day you get your study guide.

Do not procrastinate.

6. Stay positive.

Make sure you keep giving yourself little pep talks and that you keep making sure you feel like you can pass! Saying that you know you won't will only psych you out!

7. Just breathe.

Take moments to yourself just to breathe and think. You will be OK! You got this!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
