The summer before our freshman year of high school my friends and I had one hobby and one hobby only- Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Of course we went to the pool, rode our bikes, did all of the normal summer kid stuff, but this was only while we were waiting for the next season of SVU to be available at the library. At 13 we could all recite the entire opening dialogue, and would show anyone who would listen.

As the years passed, things changed. Drivers licenses were acquired, make-up started to be worn, and hearts were broken by boys, but there was always one constant we know would never let us down- Olivia Benson (Stabler just had to go and leave us season 13…like seriously Chris you’re the reason we have trust issues.)

Here are some ways this bada** detective has helps us through these challenging college years.

1. She’s right by your side in the dining hall when you know you’re trying to eat healthy but those french fries are calling your name.

2. She helps out when someone's had a little too much to drink and thinks it's a good idea to go talk to the boy they're going to regret talking to tomorrow.

3. When you’re checking your grades online after a test and you see a B-, Olivia will be right there with you to overreact.

4. Benson will be there to convince you that maybe it’s time to take a shower, considering you're going on day 5 and you reek.

5. She'll be there when you absolutely slaughter that math final you thought you were going to fail.

6. And she'll even be by your side when you have to apologize for turning into the crazy girlfriend.

7. When you have one more final left and you think you’re about to lose it, Olivia’s there to help you cross the finish line.

Law and Order: SVU has gotten us through college so far, and we have one very special detective with many different hairstyles to thank for it all.
