7 Verses To Encourage The Brokenhearted

Heartbreak can be hard. It can feel almost impossible to keep going when something or someone has left you in broken pieces. But God stays close to the brokenhearted, and He wants you to stay close to Him. Cling to Him.

Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

He not only stays close to the brokenhearted, but He heals them in the meantime. He may cut someone from your life for a purpose, but where He cuts He heals.

Matthew 11:28-30 says, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

It can feel exhausting to keep trying to be "fine" and "happy" when people ask how you are. But God says to come to Him because He will give you rest. He knows you need rest and comfort.

Isaiah 43:1 says, "But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine."

You are His. How comforting and awesome it is to know that the Maker of the universe calls me His!

Psalm 18:2 says, "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

Where do you take refuge when something goes wrong? God wants you to take refuge in Him. Talk to Him about it and He will be your rock and mighty fortress.

John 1:5 says, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

It may seem like you're under a dark cloud right now that will not go away. But God is the light in the midst of the darkness. If you focus on Him, it will be brighter. You perceive what you focus on.

Revelation 21:4 says, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Good news! There will be no more tears from heartbreak in heaven! God will wipe away every tear and there will be no more pain! Hallelujah!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
