Roommates can be weird. But sometimes it's just too far.

Living with a roommate can go one of two ways.

Either you get a really great roommate that you can coexist with. Or one that just pushes your buttons too far 100% of the time. I got along with my roommate rather well. She was the ideal roommate really. The weirdest thing she ever did was lay in the middle of the floor, splayed out, while listening to music. (See picture above. Miss you Marissa!) I am one of the fortunate ones. Others however, were not.

The Bully

Giphy

"My roommate told a guy I had a thing with that she used to bully people in school... I was out of there by the end of the week."

The Irresponsible

Giphy

"My roommate made it a point to tell me no drugs and alcohol in our room, which was okay with me. But then she decided to smoke dabs with her boyfriend in our room and get our room raided the night before I left for winter break. She also lost her key constantly and got the locks changed. She let random people sleep on our floor without letting me know!"

The Inconsiderate

Giphy

"My roommate let random people get drunk and sleep in my bed when I wasn't there without asking. I found random socks in my bed because of it."

The Thief

Giphy

"One night I was already up in my bed working on a paper and my roommate comes bursting through the door drunk and on the phone with someone. She comes in stumbling over anything that was on the floor. I don't know if she didn't know I was home, but she went over on my side of the room and started looking through my desk under my bed. I can see her. She tells whoever she's on the phone with that I have nice makeup and jewelry and that she has been taking my things. I called her out and she claimed she was just borrowing. I never got my stuff back."

The Relative

Giphy

"My grandparents."

The Hypocrite

Giphy

"My roommate used to unplug my electronics because she wanted to 'conserve energy' but would never unplug her own."

The Crazy

Giphy

"Right before I'd come into the room, I'd sometimes hear my roommate talking. I figured he was on the phone because when I came in he had his phone in his hand. But one night he thought I was sleeping and I heard him whispering. I looked over, pretending to be asleep, and he was staring into the mirror. He was talking like he was having a conversation with someone that wasn't there. I futon hopped for the rest of the semester."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
