Thanksgiving is this week. Not only do students get a break from school and adults get a day off work, Thanksgiving is a time to eat good food and spend time reflecting with family about all the things we've been given and are thankful for in life. Everyone loves the Thanksgiving favorites, turkey and mashed potatoes, but there are other foods that are severely underrated.
Cranberry Sauce
Most things purchased in a can is underrated, but most are still just as delicious. Cranberry sauce is a sweet part of the festivities that isn’t technically dessert. It’s sweet and yummy, and if you don’t enjoy it, you’re wrong.
Pumpkin Roll
Everyone loves pumpkin pie, but pumpkin rolls are much better. The cream cheese icing and moist pumpkin cake that wraps around it are much better than a hard pie crust and pumpkin filling.
Turkey shaped butter
If your family has never experienced turkey shaped butter, go out and buy one this year. It’s a wonderful centerpiece to put on your table that adds decoration to your festivities. The head is the most coveted slab. And, it just tastes better.
Sweet Potato Casserole
Some people compare sweet potatoes with baby food, so are always against them, but what foods fruits and vegies aren’t baby foods? Sweet potatoes are sweet, and when you mix them with butter, brown sugar and marshmallows for a casserole, there is no reason not to give them a chance.
Brussel sprouts
Brussel sprouts are a hit or miss with most people, but I personally love them. They’re green, so great for you. If you can’t stomach the taste, put some salt on them and they’ll taste great!
Baked Corn
Corn is the most loved vegetable across the country and paired with sweet and creamy ingredients, you can’t go wrong. Normal corn on Thanksgiving is a must, but baked corn just ups the game a little bit.
Stuffing
Stuffing may be underrated, maybe not, but it is my absolute favorite Thanksgiving food. I could eat just stuffing on Thanksgiving. It is wonderful but I can’t explain. A definite holiday must-have.
