Disney is well known for Mickey, Minnie, the many princesses, and many more magical characters, but there are tons of characters that are not given enough credit. Although they may not be the main character or the obvious hero to the movie, they do inspire others through their simple actions.
1. Sebastian, "The Little Mermaid"
Sebastian was Ariel's trusty sidekick throughout the entire move. He was sent by King Triton to keep Ariel out of trouble and maintained his role by attempting to save Ariel from the crazy human world. He is also best known for his song "Under the Sea."
2. Nani, "Lilo & Stitch"
Nani not only plays Lilo's older sister, but also acts as her guardian through out the entire movie. She works hard to keep Lilo safe and be a good older sister. Nani constantly works to support Lilo and do what makes her younger sister happy, which includes purchasing Stitch. Nani also proves that beauty comes in all shapes and colors.
3. Mushu, "Mulan"
The mighty and powerful dragon, Mushu from "Mulan" helped the young warrior in her battle with the Huns. His presence adds comedy to the serious war that China was in the middle of. Although his reasons to follow Mulan to war are selfish, his character transforms when he finds an unlikley friend in Mulan.
4. Baloo, "The Jungle Book"
The beloved bear Baloo is known for the catchy song "The Bear Necessities" in the "Jungle Book." He sings and dances with Mowgli for the song, teaching us all to live more simple lives.
5. Jacques and Gus, "Cinderella"
Jacques and Gus saved the day for Cinderella when she was locked in the attic. The two always seem to come to Cinderella's rescue, whether it is making sure she has a magical night at the ball or rescuing her just in time to tell Prince Charming she is the one to fit the glass slipper.
6. Crush, "Finding Nemo"
Crush is known for his laid-back chill personality that helps Marlin have a speedy journey to Nemo. The old sea turtle teaches Marlin to relax and enjoy life for a bit. Crush is also accompanied by his adorable son Squirt.
7. Grandmother Willow, "Pocahontas"
Although Grandmother Willow did not appear in many scenes, she always seemed to have perfectly crafted answers for young Pocahontas. Aside from guiding Pocahontas through her conflicting family and love life, Grandmother Willow is hilarious in her own way. No matter how hard the times, we can all use some of Grandmother Willow's advice.
