7 Types Of Roommates As Told By "Friends"

Well, it's about that time of the year again. The new semester is right around the corner, and whether you chose housing on - campus or off-campus, there is one thing on everyone's mind: New Roommates. Everyone is curious about how they will get along with their roommates and what kind of roommates they will have. So with the help of Friends, I put together this little list of 7 different types of roommates.

1. The Eddie

Eddie is the type of roommate everyone is hoping they don't get. Eddie was Chandler's crazy roommate for a short period of time. The Eddie type is the paranoid, crazy type of roommate that you are afraid of but actually don't know what to do about them. They come in your room uninvited, accuse you of taking their things, and just make you miserable. If you find yourself with an Eddie, try to swap immediately.

2. The Ross

Ross is another type of roommate that you are hoping you don't get stuck with. At first, Ross seems like he would be no problem, but as time goes on you start to realize he is actually really annoying. His air purifier will sing you to sleep, his favorite shows will take preference over yours, and if you even think about making any type of noise you'll get the "quiet down" gesture. The Ross type can be an annoying roommate, but they can also be great friends, so at least the relationship won't be all bad.

3. The Rachel

Rachel is probably the most fun type of roommate. She isn't the neatest or most responsible but she is a ton of fun. Rachel is the type of roommate that will instantly become your best friend. The type of roommate that you will have movie marathons with or go out with on a Friday. She's the type of roommate that you'll have late night talks with and when the semester's over, you'll be sad to say goodbye. The Rachel type is one of the types of roommates you hope for.

4. The Joey

Joey is an interesting type of roommate. Joey can be a lot of fun and a lot like Rachel, but there is a difference. Joey is super dependent. If you get Joey as your roommate you can guarantee that he'll ask you for money. You'll probably have to help him with rent or with everyday expenses. He also doesn't share his food so keep that in mind when you're looking for something to eat. The benefits of having Joey as a roommate is that he is a great and loyal friend. You will bond with him over TV Shows and when playing games. The Joey type isn't the ideal type of roommate but you will gain a great friend and that's what counts!

5. The Phoebe

Phoebe is a super chill type of roommate. She's kind of a mix of Joey and Rachel and then some. Phoebe is the kind of roommate who doesn't quite have it all together but she's okay with it. She's a little messy and super carefree. Phoebe is the type of roommate that just goes with the flow and doesn't really care about anything. The Phoebe type is super easy to get along with. She'll be a great friend. The Phoebe type is awesome to live with and it should be a fun experience!

6. The Chandler

Chandler is one of the best types of roommates. He is funny, kind, helpful, and responsible. Chandler is the kind of roommate who will help you out if you need it. He will be there for you and listen when you are having a bad day. He'll make you laugh and he'll become your best friend. Chandler is the type of roommate everyone wants. With Chandler, you'll have fun and truly enjoying your living experience. If you end up with the Chandler type you are in for a treat!

7. The Monica

Monica is the roommate everyone claims they don't want but in reality everyone is secretly hoping they get her. At first glance Monica seems like the uptight and strict roommate, but there is so much more to her. Monica can cook, really well! She doesn't like a messy apartment so she will always do the cleaning. She'll take care of you like your mom would if you still lived at home. Not only does that make her a great roommate but she is also a great friend. She is caring and great to talk to. She is the all around best roommate. If you end up with the Monica type don't be mad, be happy because you are in good hands!

So whether you end up with one of these types or you are one of these types there is no need to worry. Make the most of the experience and make some new friends. Except for Eddie. Run far, far away from Eddie.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
