Are you stuck wondering how to go vegan? Maybe you have already tried to go vegan and called it quits? Making a drastic dietary change such as this one can be frustrating and daunting, however, with these tips to get you started, the transition to a vegan diet will be smooth and easy! Just trust me and give them a try even if it is your first day or time going vegan. These tips are lifesavers and certainly make going vegan less stressful!
1. Clean out the fridge! Eliminate all meat, eggs, and dairy products.
I know it can be difficult to say goodbye, but your digestive system and skin will thank you! Any animal products that are in your kitchen or pantry should be given away or thrown out. Time to start fresh!
2. Make (or Google) a vegan grocery list before you shop.
Grocery shopping can be intimidating when starting from scratch. In order to lessen the frustration regarding what you can and cannot eat, create a list, and google some alternative food items before heading to the store.
3. Read food labels!
Try to ditch anything you can't pronounce for overall health, but also check for the heart and V symbol on the back of the packaging. This means its already vegan, which takes out some of the guesswork.
4. Buy a blender.
Making fruit, veggie, or protein-packed smoothies can be a good way to make sure you get the proper nutrition that you need. An easy smoothies recipe to remember involves picking either three standard fruits or veggies, a vegan protein powder, and a non-dairy milk of your choice. Stick it in the blender and you have a killer smoothie!
5. Meal prep and cook.
Try finding vegan alternatives for your favorite foods and recipes. I know there are definitely some foods that I miss eating, however, I usually do not miss them for long. There are so many vegan recipes for our common favorite foods out there. They are one search and grocery trip away from being made in the kitchen.
6. Depend on light bites and snack.
Protein bars and granola bars have lots of flavorful snacking options. Remember to check labels because not all brands are vegan. One of my favorite options for protein bars is a Clif bar. Most of their flavors are vegan so again, just remember to check labels.
7. Take to the internet!
There are a bunch of helpful tips and tricks online for beginning vegans. Follow some YouTubers and do some research. YouTubers such as HealthCrazyCool and TheColorfulVegan are two of my favorites. The internet is as much of a friend to a vegan as a blender or the produce department!
