I know, I know. Everyone is on your back about staying fit in college. And trust me, I understand it's difficult to make time for the gym. We have classes to attend, exams to study for, projects to do, and friends to spend time with. But trust me, reserving an hour for the gym five days a week is not as bad as it seems. Here are some tips to hopefully motivate into using your college gym more often.
1. Create a schedule.
It can be super basic. Planning out how long you wish to workout in a day and what you plan to do/what areas you wish to work can really help you stay focused and actually helps you time manage.
2. Visualize your long-term goals.
Are you trying to lose weight? Are you just trying to stay fit? If you can set out clear goals and objectives for yourself, you’re going to be more apt to achieve it.
3. Buy some cute workout gear.
No need to go all out and buy Lululemon leggings (although those are my fave), but buying some colorful gym tanks, cute leggings, and sturdy, yet fashionable sneakers will make you excited for gym time.
4. Find your perfect playlist.
It’s all your personal preference, but your workout becomes 10 times better with an audio track in the background. Also, make sure your earbuds are comfortable and won't keep falling out of your ears.
5. Get a workout buddy.
There are many benefits to this: it allows you to catch up with friends, makes the gym a less intimidating place, and there’s always someone there to hold you accountable for your goals.
6. Fitness classes.
If you’re anything like me, you’re going to be competing with others to try and keep up, which will ultimately push you farther than you would have gone on your own. Check out what your gym has to offer. You can usually find Zumba, yoga, kickboxing, the list goes on.
7. You paid for the gym in your tuition, you may as well use it.
I know it seems free, but really, is anything in life truly free?
