When you hear the term "finals week," it makes your hair stand up on your arms. It is everyone’s least favorite time of the year. The time that consists of sleep deprivation and high stress. Here are a few tips that make finals week a little less stressful…
1.Take a deep breath
During finals week we tend to get very stressed, and sometimes you need to pause and take a deep breath. It will help you clear your mind and get you back into your study groove.
2. Set aside study time
It is a lot more stressful when you are trying to cram your study time in. A few days before finals, check out your calendar and schedule specific study times.
3. Set aside break time as well
It is nearly impossible to study for hours on end. Your brain needs breaks, so take a break. Go grab coffee with a friend or take a walk. Make sure, during your break, you don’t think about your studies.
4. Ask your professors questions
Many people are scared to ask their professors questions, but that’s what they are there for. When you are studying, make sure to write down all the questions you have and set aside time to go ask your professors. I promise they aren’t scary, and it will be a lot less stressful when your questions are answered.
5. Go to bed early
When you are stressed, your brain is working a lot harder and you need more sleep. Make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. Your brain needs a good rest!
6. Drink tea
Tea is a calming mechanism. Heat some tea up while you are studying and before you go to bed. It will help from the inside out, and you won’t even realize it.
7. Have some faith in yourself
Lastly, believe in yourself. The more confident you are in yourself. and the more you tell yourself you can do it, the better you will do.
Goodluck on finals and have a great winter break! Just think, after finals week is over, you are a free person for the next month!
