Falling behind in class can happen to all of us! Check out these seven tips to help you get back on track:
1. Write down everything you need to do
Make a list with every detail of what you need to get done. Not only writing the specific assignment but all the readings or other work that may be required to complete the assignment. This will help to gauge how much time you need to take as well as giving you a visual list that is easier to check off.
2. Plan out your week, dedicating each day to one class
Now that you have a list of what you need to get done, dedicate each day of the week predominantly to one class.
3. Plan out your day
Make a list of all the available free time you have each day and schedule time to work on your assignments. Use the estimated time you think it will take to work on each assignment and block it off on your schedule. It is important to take time for self care, eating and sleeping.
4. Don’t procrastinate
This is an obvious one, but if you’re already behind you can't afford to lose any more time. Turn your phone off and remove yourself from distractions.
5. Go to a quiet space
If there are too many distractions at home or with friends, go to the library or a quiet place. If you start to feel fatigued take a quick break or change locations. Pro Tip: Try going outside or to a café.
6. Reward yourself
This doesn’t have to be anything extravagant. It is important to recognize what you have accomplished. This could be getting a coffee or taking a bubble bath after a long day of studying.
7. Get some sleep
Prioritize getting sleep. Even though you have limited time to get work done, if you do not get enough rest your brain will not retain the information you're learning. Set yourself a cut off time and make sure to stick to regular sleeping patterns.
